2024 The Nobel Prize in Physics honors AI breakthroughs 🏆🤖 Geoffrey Hinton, the “Godfather of AI,” and John Hopfield have won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics for their pioneering work on neural networks, which power technologies like image recognition and natural language processing. Hinton, a professor emeritus at the University of Toronto and AI pioneer at Google developed the Boltzmann machine, which autonomously identifies data features. Meanwhile, Hopfield, a professor at Princeton University, designed a network that emulates human memory. Their work has transformed industries but also raises ethical concerns. As Hinton warned, “It's going to be wonderful in many respects, in areas like healthcare. But we also have to worry about a number of possible bad consequences.
