Veolia will engineer and supply key technology for the Hassyan seawater #desalination plant. 💧 The second largest reverse osmosis (RO) seawater desalination plant in the world — and the most energy-efficient — will be built south of #Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The project’s use of technology and its energy performance make it a stand-out: it combines ultra-low energy consumption and the use of #renewable energy, with Hassyan slated to be the world’s largest desalination plant powered by solar #energy. ☀️ ➡️ This outstanding achievement is the fruit of Veolia’s vast expertise in large-scale desalination, which has maximized the potential of reverse osmosis technology by reducing the amount of energy used by RO plants by a further 35% over the past decade. ➡️ Located near the Jebel Ali Wetland Sanctuary, the Hassyan plant is designed to minimize potential impacts on the #ecosystem, including during construction, and it strictly adheres to local environmental laws and regulations. ➡️ This new generation of plants at the cutting edge of energy efficiency is fully in line with Veolia's #GreenUp strategic plan, thanks to the accelerated deployment of solutions to preserve #water resources. 🌱 What are Veolia's growth boosters? The global clean energy and environmental services market represents enormous potential and a powerful springboard for developing high-impact solutions. ➡️ Building on its expertise in #water, #energy, and #waste, Veolia’s aim is to #decarbonize, #depollute, and #regenerate resources through three growth boosters: ▪️ bioenergies and energy flexibility and efficiency ⚡ ▪️ water technologies and new solutions 💧 ▪️ and hazardous waste treatment ♻️ ➡️ These three activities currently generate 30% of Veolia’s revenue and will deliver 70% of its growth over the next four years. Half of the €4 billion invested under the GreenUp strategic program will focus on these boosters. ➡️ Veolia’s strength lies partly in the highly complementary nature of its specialties and its ability to combine them to meet the challenges our customers face. Our #GreenUp strategic plan is a perfect illustration, with a “Copy & Adapt” approach that capitalizes on the Group’s global expertise to ensure total adaptability to local needs. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e2M9Za5D

💧With industry, households, and agriculture requiring ever more #water, along with increasing water shortages, access to clean water and sanitation compliant with norms is set to be a major challenge for billions of people by 2030. A situation exacerbated by the impacts of climate change and the emergence of new pollutants. ➡️ Veolia is mindful of these important issues and committed to providing quality, affordable water that protects everyone’s health. The Group has made water #technologies and the associated new #solutions central to its GreenUp 24-27 strategic program, with this area a real driver of growth. ➡️ In Hungary, the Oroszlány site has become the world’s largest producer of ultrafiltration membranes, a hub of innovation. Veolia’s Water Technologies & Solutions #membrane is a reinforced hollow fiber ultrafiltration membrane that can turn polluted water into clean water through a low vacuum separation method without the use of chemicals. ➡️ The membranes are submerged in the wastewater and, under low vacuum, draw water through pores smaller than a human hair, preventing organic materials, macro- and micropollutants, bacteria and viruses from passing through the membranes. ➡️ Demonstrating its technical expertise for the water of the future, the Oroszlány site is helping achieve the goals of the European revision of water management and urban wastewater treatment standards, which was adopted in November 2024. 🚨 Urgent call to action: Strengthen circularity in the automotive sector. As EU Member States get prepared to discuss the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation on 17 December, a coalition of stakeholders - from equipment manufacturers , recyclers to environmental non profit organisations - have joined forces to issue a joint statement calling for the ambition for more circularity in the automotive sector not to be watered down. 🚘 In particular, mandatory recycled #plastic content is key to stimulating demand for low-carbon/recycled plastics in a context where the #PlasticRecycling industry is facing pressing challenges as demand for recycled polymers remains low. Key points the coalition is calling for : ✅ Maintain 25% recycled plastic content obligations in new vehicles ; ✅ Accelerate implementation of recycled content obligations ; ✅ Count only post-consumer #waste for recycled targets ; ✅ Ensure investment stability for innovation and recycling capacity expansion notably by avoiding lowering targets or adding derogation that would create uncertainty. 💡 Did you know? Recycling one ton of plastics can prevent up to 2.5 tons of CO2 compared to using primary materials (oil and gas). Veolia, with its industrial brand #PlastiLoop, and FORVIA through its subsidiary MATERI'ACT, work hand in hand to be at the forefront of the transformation of the automotive sector by: 🔷 Developing and producing utra-low CO2 footprint and recycled materials ; 🔷Demonstrating the quality of applications that recycled content can address while meeting stringent automotive standards for structural/visible applications in vehicles. #CircularEconomy #SustainableAutomotive #GreenUp European Parliament / Council of the European Union / European Commission / T&E / EuRIC - The European Recycling Industries / FEAD - European Waste Management Association / ECOS / European Environmental Bureau / MOBILIANS

Veolia and the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC), owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, are partnering to manage organic, industrial, and hazardous #waste at a regional and national level in accordance with the Vision 2030 program initiated by His Highness Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman. 🇸🇦 ➡️ Through this partnership agreement, the two actors aim to combine their resources and skills to preserve the resource, decontaminate and decarbonize the country by producing green #energy, in line with the #GreenUp 24-27 strategic plan carried by Veolia, and of which the Middle East is one of the geographical boosters. ➡️ In 2023, Veolia recorded a consolidated turnover of €280 million and had 2,500 employees in #SaudiArabia. More specifically, in the waste sector: the Group processed 4.1 million tons of industrial waste at the national level and had a hazardous waste treatment capacity of over 350 KT, with high growth by 2027 in our crosshairs. Present for over 35 years and firmly established in Saudi Arabia, Veolia is thus intensifying its activity and local footprint in the strategic sector of waste treatment. ♻️ 🔗 Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/g9bX4GAU
