Earlier this year I met Jack Binstead - a smart, humourous guy who is passionate about padel. Jack founded the England Adaptive Padel team - for padel players with disabilities - and he has ambitions to have a team that will one day compete at the Paralympics (which topically starts today). Many people in the padel world know Jack, he's incredibly proactive on other social media channels sharing real insights into his world. I met him in Milan earlier this year and he told me of the challenges in pulling together a team to compete on the likes of the Inclusive Padel Tour, and also the challenges of being able to compete on a level playing field at these events in terms of equipment, primarily the wheelchair. Funding for coaching, equipment, travel to compete at as many events he can with coach and team-mate Luke Dolphin is another challenge, because of the limited awareness and publicity of the sport, outside of padel. So, today, it's great to have got Jack in GQ Magazine - along with former Olympic athletes - to talk about the science behind breakfast. The aim is to promote Jack, his ambitions and continue to raise awareness of the challenges faced to get the adaptive padel more attention. #padel #mediarelations #publicrelations #breakfast

The Fair Game Index 2024 has been launched today with football clubs and fans discovering where they rank. The Index, which features Scottish clubs and National League clubs for the first time, has used 226 data points across four pillars to establish which are the best run clubs in football. The no 1 club in English Football is Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. The No 1 club in Scotland - and overall - is Celtic Football Club. The full list of clubs (206 in total) from 11 leagues including The Premier League, EFL (English Football League), where they rank and how the Index was collated can be viewed in the report. There are some interesting findings in the report as well as highlighting well-run clubs such as Norwich City Football Club, Cambridge United Football Club and AFC Wimbledon from outside of the Premier League. In terms of media coverage, as Head of Media for Fair Game UK, the Index has secured coverage in The Guardian, The Independent, City AM, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Record, The Herald and various regional media, with the expectations of more to follow. It has been a real team effort - and not withoutits challenges - to collate the report, to pull together the collatoral and ensure the clubs, fans and media are aware of the Index. We need to talk about #padel in the #UK. More. But it's also high time to do more. I've done a few posts in the last few months about my views on #Britishpadel and its relationship with LTA. It's time to do something more about it. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? So even though I am a fairly fresh face to the scene, I want to organise something. I want to organise a series of calls, each focused on specific UK areas of focus and perhaps concern. WHY? My objective is broadly to understand what the scene thinks is working, what is not working, why it's working or not working, what more needs to be done and who should do something about it. WHO SHOULD JOIN? The invitation to each call is open to stakeholders in the UK scene, or even those who think they have relevant expertise or perspectives that could help the UK scene. WHAT ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE? The topics of the separate calls I want to organise are currently: 1. Increasing the Number of #Courts: Looking at Court and Club Building 2. Increasing the #Talent: Looking at Top Talent today and the Pipeline for Tomorrow 3. Increasing the #Participation: Looking at #Amateur Circuits and Tournaments as well as Programs (Kids and Adults) 4. Increasing the #Visibility: Looking at Marketing and Promoting the Sport More Broadly 5. Increasing the #HumanResources: Looking at #Coaches and Coaching Initiatives That is what I am starting with. If anyone feels I am missing any key area or focus, let me know and I will see whether it warrants an extra call or can be incorporated in the agenda of any of the above calls. IS THIS JUST A CHAT OR IS SOMETHING GOING TO HAPPEN? The point is to share view points, align to the extent possible around concerns and priorities, next steps and responsibilities. From there we can, as a scene look at assembling an interest group, or a coalition with objectives, or develop a feedback process into the LTA. I haven't got a prescribed outcome. But I do know a lot of people want to see improvements, they want progress, they want to feed into that and they want meaningful and trackable action. So let's get started.
