Block, a tech giant, has announced a significant reduction in its support for TIDAL , a #music streaming service previously owned by Jay-Z. This move signals a strategic shift within Block, which had initially invested in #TIDAL with the aim of revolutionizing the music streaming experience. The reduced #investment raises questions about the future direction of TIDAL, as the platform, known for its superior sound quality and artist-friendly features, may see shifts in its offerings. The decision raises questions about whether TIDAL can maintain its artist-centric approach, offering higher #royalty payments compared to other streaming services. It also raises the question of whether platforms originally designed to empower artists can sustain this mission without substantial backing from their parent companies. Limitations on TIDAL's audio quality and exclusive content could impact its ability to offer lossless streaming. This shift may herald a broader trend in the streaming industry, as #platforms vie for dominance. The competitive nature of the music streaming market suggests that TIDAL will likely not stand still, and each decision will #influence its #sustainability and relevance. #Advantages of TIDAL's transition include potential for# innovation, a focused strategy, and reduced artist support. The coming months will be crucial in shaping TIDAL's destiny and the landscape of #digitalmusic.

People are urged to check their old #CD collections due to the resurgence in popularity of physical media, including vinyls from decades ago. The #musicindustry has reminded #Brits that demand for CDs and vinyls from decades ago is so high that consumers are prepared to pay huge bucks for them. Music by the likes of #DavidBowie, The #Beatles, #MichaelJackson, and other legends are on the list. However, some Brits admit it is too late, as they have already thrown out their CD collections, which include copies of singles and albums now thought to be worth a sweet sum. Many of these coveted CDs were released in #limited quantities or exclusively in #foreign countries, while others were recalled for various reasons, such as the death of bandmates. Some copies are still circulating and sell for around £1,500 to £2,000. Other rare CDs include Nirvana's single #PennyroyalTea, #BruceSpringsteen's The Future of #RockandRoll, #Prince's My Name Was Prince, and #ParisHilton's debut album Paris.

#Billboard's latest "Market Watch" report has removed data on CDs and physical formats due to changes in Luminate's #sales methodology, which sparked backlash from #indie retailers. This shift led to discrepancies in #vinyl sales figures, with Billboard initially reporting a decline that contradicted other industry data. As a result, vinyl and physical sales data were excluded from the October 24th report. Billboard claims the new methodology more accurately reflects #independent retail, but the lack of historical data makes year-over-year comparisons difficult. The move leaves uncertainty about the true state of physical #music sales. Further complications arose from Luminate's revised approach, which critics argue might have overstated previous sales figures. With the absence of comparative data, it remains unclear if the physical sales slump is real or if the revised metrics are simply a correction. The situation has raised questions about the accuracy and transparency of industry data going forward.(Credit: Mick Haupt)
