📣 MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 At Quobly, our mission has always been clear: harness the power of semiconductor innovation to unlock the full potential of quantum technologies. And this morning, at #Q2B Santa Clara, John Preskill reminded the quantum computing community that a fault-tolerant quantum computer is needed by the industry to tackle commercial applications. This is why we are thrilled to announce our strategic collaboration with STMicroelectronics to bring quantum processor units (QPUs) to scale! Simply put, we make qubits the same way we fabricate transistors. By collaborating with STMicroelectronics, a global leader in advanced manufacturing, we’re taking a big step towards industrializing quantum computers. This means bringing quality, reproducibility and yield to the silicon qubits. Quobly leverages ST’s high volume manufacturing capabilities, FD-SOI semiconductor processes and circuit design expertise to make scalable, cost-effective quantum processors. Quobly aims to break the 1-million-qubit barrier by 2031, targeting applications ranging from pharmaceuticals, finance, materials science and complex systems modeling, including climate and fluid dynamics simulations. Why does this agreement matter? With ST on our side, we are applying to quantum the same test and tried innovation stream as the one that made the success of classical semiconductor innovation. Silicon qubits have already demonstrated their ability to perform all quantum operations in academic labs. The next step is multiplication. Commercial fabs offer yield and reproducibility but at the expense of limited versatility. It is the reason why with CEA-Leti pilot lines, we have taken their constraints into account to demonstrate all the quantum operations. Those constraints are the ones of commercial FD-SOI, and we know them well because our team contributed to the development of the FD-SOI that is now manufactured in fabs like ST's. This foundational work, complying with commercial FD-SOI technological constraints, was burdensome, but it provides two game changing advantages: - co-integration of classical electronics for scalability, solving the challenge of wiring and enabling quantum error correction - money and time efficiency as we benefit from the billions of dollars already invested in the fabs Now we are ready to enter the next phase and add qubits on top of 28FD-SOI technology to bridge co-design, prototyping and industrialization. ✨ Read more about this exciting milestone in the full press release 👉 https://lnkd.in/erSiRN2a Maud Vinet | Remi El-Ouazzane | Philippe Magarshack | Nicolas Daval | Alexis Breton | Steeve Bourdon | Jana Mancova | Matthieu Estrangin | Andrea Busch | Doug Finke | CEA-Leti | CNRS | Christopher Bishop | Olivier Tonneau | Gwenaël Hamon | DAMIEN BRETEGNIER | Frédéric Humbert

🚀 We are thrilled to share a significant step forward in the journey toward fault-tolerant, large-scale quantum computing! ⚛️ At IEDM Conference 2024, Quobly unveiled groundbreaking work demonstrating how FD-SOI technology—traditionally used in CMOS manufacturing—can serve as a scalable and commercially viable platform for quantum computing. 🖥️ By leveraging decades of semiconductor expertise and infrastructure, our approach integrates quantum and classical components on the same chip, paving the way for Quantum System-on-Chip (QSoC) architectures. 💡 Key achievements announced include: - Cryogenic Control Electronics: Achieving voltage gains up to 75dB with noise levels of 10-11V²∙μm²/Hz. - Ambipolar Spin Qubits: Co-integration of hole and electron qubits, enabling manipulation speeds of 1μs and coherence times of 40μs. - Two-Qubit Gate Standard Cell: Demonstrated using commercially available FD-SOI, addressing a critical challenge in scaling quantum processors. 👍 Our results confirm that silicon spin qubits are ideally suited for scaling, combining unparalleled clock speeds, fidelity, and density. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our collaborators, including CEA-Leti, CEA-Irig, CNRS, and leading semiconductor partners. With this milestone, Quobly continues to lead the way in building cost-efficient, scalable quantum systems—bringing us closer to the promise of fault-tolerant quantum computing at scale.
