We’ve returned from summer break, where we had the chance to observe one of France’s major annual astronomical events. This year, the event was infused with #Olympic fervor, adding to the excitement. We were captivated by the Perseid meteor shower, a spectacular event that peaks in mid-August. The #Perseids occur when #Earth passes through the debris left behind by the Swift-Tuttle comet, creating a natural light show with up to 100 meteors visible per hour under optimal conditions. This year, viewing conditions were favorable, with clear skies providing an unobstructed view of the #meteorshower in most of France metropolitan territory. The Perseids are best observed in the Northern Hemisphere, with the best time to watch being after midnight, where the dark skies and minimal light pollution offer the most stunning display.
