We believe that 'The Right to See' is a fundamental human right. Our team in Africa is working to ensure this becomes a reality for everyone in the region by developing sustainable vision care services, investing in innovation and technology to offer these services at scale, providing philanthropic support to those in need and raising awareness about the need for good vision. Together with our partners, we won't stop until we have eliminated uncorrected poor vision across the continent. Check out our YouTube playlist summarizing our efforts in Africa, and hear from Mustapha A Njie, Head of the Foundation in Africa on what ‘The Right To See’ means to him: https://lnkd.in/gAuVzf2r #TheRightToSee #GoodVisionChangesEverything #SeeMoreBeMore

Last week, the Government of Goa, in partnership with the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, released an advisory for annual vision screenings in all government schools. The event was attended by Dr. Pramod Sawant, Honorable Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Swati Piramal, Chairwoman of the EssilorLuxottica CSR Committee, Dr. Krishnaprasad Kudlu, Director of Prasad Netralaya, Narasimhan (Nara) Narayanan, President of EssilorLuxottica South Asia and Anurag Hans, Head of the Mission at EssilorLuxottica and President of the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, underscoring the importance of this initiative. This advisory will pave the way for early detection and treatment of vision problems, such as myopia, among school-going children, ensuring they can fully engage in their education, participate in activities they love and unleash their full potential. Over the past year, our collaborative 'Vision for All' program in Goa has made significant strides, screening 250,000 children and training over 2,400 teachers to identify vision issues. With this new advisory, we are poised to build on this success, creating a healthier and brighter future for Goa's children. -- Pictured, from left to right: Narasimhan (Nara) Narayanan | Anurag Hans | Dr. Pramod Sawant | Dr. Swati Piramal | Dr. Krishnaprasad Kudlu #VisionForAll #EyeHealth #Goa

August's back-to-school season is a key moment for National Children's Eye Health and Safety Month. To prepare students for the back-to-school season, we teamed up with the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation and The Fresh Air Fund to provide over 600 students with eye exams—91% of the children evaluated were in need of glasses. Each summer, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation and The Fresh Air Fund hold a vision clinic in Fishkill, New York to provide eye exams and glasses to kids who don't have access to vision care. This summer, a team of devoted volunteers from LensCrafters were eager to provide their services at the clinic. This initiative sets these kids up for success in the coming school year and builds confidence in the classroom and beyond. Good vision has long-lasting effects – take Samrudhya, a 12-year-old student in India, for example. Good vision will support her in her studies and help her build critical self-efficacy, setting her up for success now and building a strong foundation for her future. We believe everyone has ‘The Right To See’, but the positive effects are especially compounding and important for young people. Follow our page to learn how #GoodVisionChangesEverything and how we are working to provide ‘The Right To See’ to people around the world. #TheRightToSee #SeeMoreBeMore

Meet Kilisome. He is a 75 year-old fisherman from the small equatorial nation of Tuvalu (population of ~11,000 and 26 sq/km) -- where fishing and handcrafts are a major source of income and access to vision care is very limited. Kilisome is deaf and in need of glasses. He fishes for a living and has struggled with poor vision while repairing his fishing nets. We were able to provide him with his first pair of glasses and sunglasses (which are important for eye health and safety while on the water). Our team in Oceania covers a vast region throughout the South Pacific, reaching some of the most geographically isolated countries on the planet. We work to help correct and protect people's vision, like Kilisome, so they can work better, safer and enhance their overall quality of life. For Kilisome and many others, good vision can change and improve everything! Our Foundation is actively working to provide vision care access to even the most remote areas of the world, because we believe everyone has #TheRightToSee.

Creating permanent access to vision care is a critical part of providing vision care to people globally. Hundreds of millions of people suffer the social and economic consequences of poor vision in rural and remote areas of India. Our sustainable programs seek to improve local livelihoods by providing vision correction, developing skills and creating jobs. By empowering local people like Sagarika with knowledge, skills and financial support, our Foundation is able to sustainably address the need for vision care in underserved communities – getting us a step closer to ending correctable refractive error in a generation. #TheRightToSee #GoodVisionChangesEverything #SeeMoreBeMore

Class is almost back in session in North America! In preparation for back-to-school and beyond, we teamed up with Sunglass Hut to support kids and their families at the Boys & Girls Club in Buena Park, California by providing vision care and glasses to those in need. Good vision sets students up for success by building confidence, aiding in scholastic endeavors and allowing them to experience their day-to-day lives to the fullest. Our goal of providing proper eye care paired well with the Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park’s mission to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Check out these pictures from this July’s clinic and follow our page OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation to join us as we work globally to end uncorrected refractive errors in a generation. #SeeMoreBeMore #GoodVisionChangesEverything #TheRightToSee
