Just back from a very instructive visit to our Latecoere site in Gimont, France. A big thank you to the team for their warm welcome and for proudly showcasing their critical know how and commitment. 👏   At Gimont, we produce complex aerostructures for key partners such as Airbus Aircraft (ACJ airstair), Boeing (cargo door), and Dassault Aviation (Rafale and Falcon fuselage). Seeing the precision and dedication behind these projects firsthand highlights the critical role this site plays in our operations.   Like many in the industry, the site faces challenges: fluctuating demand, the need to retain and pass on skills in a tight labor market, and supply chain vulnerabilities. The good news? A robust action plan is already in place, with results expected in the coming months to restore operational performance. 💪 With the team’s determination and mindset, I am confident we will rise to the challenge. Latecoere is pleased to announce the appointment of Yves Yemsi as its new Group Chief Operating Officer & President EMEA (effective Feb. 1, 2025). Yves brings over 30 years of experience in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries, with a proven track record in industrialization, supply chain optimization, and operational excellence. He has held key executive positions at major player such as Airbus Aircraft, Flextronics International Industrial Ltda, and, more recently, Lilium, where he served as Chief Operating Officer, leading the industrialization and global supply chain development of innovative electrical aircraft. Yves Yemsi’s extensive international experience and visionary leadership will support Latecoere in its mission to deliver cutting-edge aerostructures and interconnection systems to clients worldwide. His appointment comes as Latecoere continues to expand its global presence and operational capabilities in response to evolving market demands.   Yves Yemsi commented: "I am thrilled to join Latecoere, a company with such a rich heritage and reputation for excellence in aerospace. It’s always a pleasure to visit a well-organized plant dedicated to continuous improvement. You truly deserve a spot on the podium for our internal #AllPioneersChallenge. A big shout-out for the excellent collaboration with the Toulouse teams from Montredon. The transfers and reorganization of machining resources are nearly complete. Costs are under control, and operational continuity for our customers is ensured. Final steps are scheduled for the first half of 2025. Last stretch - let’s cross the finish line together. Comtek Advanced Structures, a Latecoere company, has been awarded the design-build contract for #composite floors on the De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited De Havilland #Canadair 515. The scope includes the complete flooring system for cabin and cockpit areas.   The De Havilland Canadair 515 (DHC-515) is a new production purpose-built amphibious #firefighting aircraft developed by De Havilland Canada as an update to the CL-415 waterbomber. Building on the exceptional operational capability of the CL-415, this next generation aircraft offers added benefits to operators, including design changes that incorporate new materials and corrosion protection to reduce maintenance costs, along with a complete upgrade of the flight deck with an advanced avionics suite.   Comtek Advanced Structures, a Latecoere Company, will supply a modernized #flooring system that incorporates advanced composite materials and lightweight panel design. Panels will be fabricated on Comtek’s highly optimized panel production line located in Burlington, Ontario.   Earlier this year, Comtek became the floor system supplier for De Havilland Canada’s Twin Otter Classic 300-GTM, further strengthening the relationship between the two Canadian companies. 🇨🇦 📰 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dBv7kHMN
