À propos

To prepare for the future, we look to the past. As a new reality sets in at KENZO, Artistic Director Nigo reconnects with the values entrenched in the early beginnings of the Maison: designer fashion created for real life, imbued with the playful urbanity of Kenzo Takada’s timeless legacy. A creative exchange, KENZO becomes an evolving dialogue between the pop culture of the founder’s heritage and the street culture inherent to Nigo. Through Nigo’s instinct for contemporary design, a new vision takes shape at KENZO: ‘real-to-wear’, a genuine wardrobe founded in the authentic desires of the post-digital mentality. It is a realistic approach to fashion, which transcends the conventional labels of ‘formal’, ‘casual’ or ‘street’ in favour of the syntheses that make up real wardrobes today. A series of encounters take place: the everlasting codes of KENZO are considered through an instant lens, the ‘Jungle’ fashion of its founder is distilled into succinctly covetable items, and a new sense of exclusivity heightens the universal appeal key to the Maison’s history. In the encounter between the founder and the heir, the core of KENZO is amplified: unconventional fashion for the future rooted in the permanence of its past.

KENZOLOGY: the study of an evolutionary wardrobe cultivated from the bridge-building perspective of a Japanese designer in Paris. The KENZO Spring-Summer 2025 Women’s and Men’s Collection reinforces and refines the culturally interwoven language developed by #Nigo at the Maison. Staged on the golden soil of the Palais-Royal – a location dear to the heart of the Artistic Director – it is a natural florescence of the cross-pollination found at the core of KENZO: a stylistic ecosystem nurtured by Nigo’s creative exchange with the archives of Kenzo Takada, the dress codes of their shared Japanese heritage, and the Parisian spirit of the Maison. Cultured by time, the expression unfolds in silhouettes, constructions and techniques that become entirely their own, rendered in the vibrant colours of origami paper across re-imagined adaptations of archival motifs. In his second creative exchange with KENZO, the Japanese graphic artist Verdy – a long-time friend of Nigo – applies his animated signature to the Maison’s iconography. The show’s soundtrack was produced by WhoJiggi with additional co-production by Ero, Jaystolaa and Sekai. We are extremely proud and honored to announce that Maison KENZO has once again taken part in the "Cultures et Création" fashion show. This event, featuring amateur designers and models, aims to honor and celebrate creativity and diversity of talents and is part of an ongoing partnership between LVMH and the cities of Montfermeil and Clichy-sous-Bois in France. For its 2024 edition, the show brought together more than 300 participants who created outfits on the theme of "Sport and Olympism" in front of nearly 2,500 spectators. We would like to express our gratitude to all the talented participants who made this fashion show an unforgettable moment. Special thanks go to our dedicated collaborators who passionately conducted the couture "Master classes". Their commitment to excellence and sharing of knowledge resonate with the values cherished by KENZO. https://lnkd.in/eRSKAm9k

KENZO by Nigo: Women’s and Men’s Pre-Fall 2024 Campaign SUNRISE CHASING: a journey from West to East. For the KENZO Women’s and Men’s Pre-Fall Campaign, Artistic Director #Nigo expands his lens and imagines the cross-cultural core of the #KENZO season wardrobe from a galaxy far away. Drawing on the sci-fi metaphors of the pre-fall – presented as part of the Fall-Winter 2024 runway show in January 2024 – the campaign re-frames the proposal in a lunar landscape grounded by the earthly waves of the sea. Shot on an ensemble cast, the still and moving imagery was captured by the Canary Islands-born photographer Lengua, whose work explores and challenges conventional ideas of nature. The season premise that informed the pre-fall – founded in the main collection from which it derives – is explored in the context of the sci-fi-esque scenery of Planet Earth. Reflecting on the notion of chasing the sunrise across the world – from West to East where it rises – the campaign portrays the occidental-oriental dialogue at the heart of Nigo’s practice. With nods to the scenes of the moon landing, the Maison’s new elegance – core to the pre-fall – emerges in the bright light and breeze of daybreak. Here, a conversation between the earthly and the galactic unfolds in silhouettes and motifs suspended between the grounded and the futuristic. #KENZONIGO #KENZOFW24

KENZO new boutique at the iconic DUBAI MALL Following its increasing retail expansion plans, KENZO is opening its first boutique in Dubai, at the iconic Dubai Mall. The store, scheduled to welcome its first visitors in March 2024, will signal the brand’s aim to develop its presence in the United Arab Emirates while unveiling its new retail concept – although showcased in other regions, the new store concept will display its full creative breadth at the Dubai Mall, acting as the perfect setting to feature the Spring-Summer 2024 collection of the brand as well as its exclusive Ramadan capsule collection.   Spanning over 1300 sq feet, the KENZO space in Dubai will symbolize perfectly the East-meets-West concept that the brand has been elaborating since the appointment of #Nigo as Artistic Director. A carefully curated ensemble of architectural and decorative elements will reunite Japan and France, the two geographical pillars of the House. The façade of the store echoes that of the KENZO headquarters, located in a hôtel particulier in the heart of Paris. The signature Parisian beige stone is contrasted by the red ‘torii’ threshold, a traditional Japanese portal that here represents the separation between the outside world and the KENZO universe to be enjoyed by visitors.    The East-meets-West creative approach continues inside the space, in which a large red lacquered structure inspired by ‘Koushido’, a classic element of Japanese houses, greets visitors. Other bright red elements include carpeting and wall fixtures, all crafted with an authentic yet contemporary vision in mind. The natural oak floor is reminiscent of the parquet at the Château de Versailles, further connecting the retail space to its French roots. The Letter ‘K’ for ‘KENZO’ is subtly embedded in the flooring pattern, a testimony to the artisanal craft that has driven KENZO’s creative world since its founding by #KenzoTakada. Another key visual aspect: the ceiling of the store has been designed to echo that of the KENZO founder’s Parisian home – parallel wooden beams are here displayed in a black mat finish to complement the graphic interiors of the space.    True to the brand’s signature vision of East meets West, KENZO’s new store concept will continue to bring all paths of life and regions of the world together. The Dubai KENZO store at the Dubai Mall is no exception, reflecting Creative Director Nigo’s strong pioneering message of perfect inclusive harmony. #KENZONIGO #DUBAIMALL
