NuCLEUS is in the final phase of NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Deep Space Food Challenge. Nutritional Closed-Loop Eco-Unit System, designed for food production in space and aims to support a four-person crew for a three-year round-trip mission without resupply. It seeks to maximize food output with minimal waste and create a variety of nutritious and safe foods. NuCLEUS represents a significant step towards developing Bioregenerative Life Support Systems (BLSS) for future human spaceflight.
