How can we assess the environmental impact of a product or a system over its entire life cycle? 🌍 This is what we discussed last Wednesday, when we participated in SCORE LCA’s 5th seminar which took place in ENGIE’s offices in Paris-la-Défense. Why does Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) matter? 1. LCA helps industries measure and reduce the environmental footprint of their products and solutions; as members of SCORELCA, Imerys aims to listen to how other industrial companies deal with key challenges and exchange best practices.  2. In-depth studies financed by SCORELCA were presented by LCA experts during the 5th seminar addressing key challenges such as the accounting of GHG emissions at product level when we purchase renewable electrical energy or build solar panels in our quarries. 3. Exchanges like these enable us to reinforce our choices or adapt our practices more quickly to stay one step ahead of evolving standards. Behind the scenes of our century-old Clérac site ✨ Located close to Bordeaux, this historic site is where #kaolin clays are transformed into chamottes—key ingredients in products we use every day. Here are 4 things you might not have known about our Clérac site: 🇫🇷 It’s part of Imerys’ 32 industrial sites in France. 🚽 Our clays help make everything from tiles and sanitary products to materials used in agriculture, aluminum, steel, and glass, as well as the automotive and construction industries. ♻️ The site uses biomass, recycled fuel oil, and biogas from household wastes in an effort to reduce its CO2 emissions as much as possible. ⚙️ Over 2,000 pieces of equipment are involved in the production process! 🎉🏫 Imerys celebrates the inauguration of a new school in Annesley, South Africa, which took place in the presence of Anastasia Amvrosiadou and Philippe Bourg. 🎉 This new facility, which features 8 state-of-the-art classrooms, marks a new start for approximately 320 primary school students in Annesley. The project enables learners to move from prefab containers to proper buildings, conducive to learning and teaching. Sponsored and supported by our colleagues at the Imerys Annesley Andalusite Mine, the project reflects our commitment to improving local education facilities. “A good education helps to provide a strong foundation for children to achieve their potential. This school was built to ensure that the children of Segorong have access to the best possible educational facilities,” said Philippe Bourg, Senior Vice President Refractory Abrasives and Construction at Imerys, during the inauguration. 🎉 A fantastic day celebrating 120 years of our site “Kaolins de Bretagne” in Ploemeur 🎉 A spectacular light show tracing the site’s legacy crowned an exciting day of guided tours of the quarry and facilities as well as activities for all ages. More than 1,000 of our dedicated employees, their families, clients, local residents and stakeholders joined us in honoring the site’s rich history and innovation. Discovered in 1904, this #kaolin deposit is now the largest in operation in France, renowned for its exceptional whiteness and purity, which serves the high-end ceramics market. Ploemeur also produces #mica - unique in Europe for its whiteness - essential in interior paints, plasterboard coatings, and cosmetics. A huge thank you to our amazing employees working on the site and to those who organized this special day. A special acknowledgement also goes to the mayor of Ploemeur Ronan LOAS for joining the celebration! As we look to the future, the renewal of our operating permit last year means 28 more years of innovation in Ploemeur. 🙌
