We are very excited to announce the launch of our International Clinical Trials Day (ICTD) for 2025. We are co-hosting with our Spanish partner Spanish Clinical Research Network (SCReN) to bring you what we hope to be a very insightful day. 📆Date: Tuesday, 20 May, 2025 📍 Place: Madrid, Spain 👩🔬 Theme: Rethinking Clinical Trials: Inclusivity in Practice The need for greater inclusivity in clinical trials is clear in Europe and there is an increasing obligation to progress from discussion to concrete implementation. By uniting different stakeholders from the community, ICTD will shed light not only on why diversity, equity and inclusion should be embraced in clinical research but will give concrete examples of what has been done so far and where there are still hurdles to overcome. More information will be released soon. For now, please mark the date in your diaries. We hope you are able to join us! 🌟 https://lnkd.in/e_mfQNxM #ClinicalTrials #DEI #ICTD #ICTD2025 CZECRIN, Infrastructure F-CRIN, KKS-Netzwerk e. Thank you to PtCRIN Portuguese Clinical Research Infrastructure Network for hosting such a wonderful event and supporting the national scientific societies. We were honoured to join and contribute to the discussion on how ECRIN facilitates Investigator Initiated Clinical Trial efforts within and beyond the Portuguese borders.
💡 Session 1: What Do We Need to Set Up IICTs in Portugal? The discussion is heating up as we explore key elements to strengthen IICTs in Portugal: ✔️ The value of IICTs for research and healthcare, presented by Carlos Lima Alves (INFARMED, I.P.). ✔️ The European framework for IICTs, with insights from Jacques Demotes (ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network)). ✔️ Funding opportunities for IICTs, highlighted by Anabela Isidro (AICIB - Agência de Investigação Clínica e Inovação Biomédica). ✔️ The indispensable role of CTUs in supporting clinical trials, explained by Inês Cabrita (CRO CETERA). 👏 A lively Q&A session is underway, diving into the practical steps needed to elevate Portugal's IICT landscape. Let’s continue building a brighter future for clinical research together!

The European public-private partnership consortium MACUSTAR .eu has received a third Letter of Support from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for its efforts in developing novel outcome measures for clinical trials evaluating treatments for the common eye condition age-related macular degeneration (AMD). 💡 The scientific advice by the agency was based on four-year study results of more than 600 Europeans with early stages of AMD who are at a high risk of developing visual impairment. EMA recognises the high quality and impact of the scientific outputs from the MACUSTAR project that may have impact on more than 200 million patients with AMD globally.
