This summer, Ludovic du Plessis 🍾🌱🌏, President of Champagne Telmont, went to meet his friend French chef Glenn Viel. Heading up the kitchen at three Michelin starred (and green starred) restaurant L’Oustau de Baumanière, this hyper-creative, nature-loving chef showed Ludovic around his incredible organic vegetable garden surrounded by Les Baux de Provence. It was a great opportunity to talk about Glenn’s and Telmont’s shared commitment in the Name of Mother Nature. 🙏🏼 Glenn Viel & restaurant @oustaudebaumaniere amazing team at Les Baux de Provence. After the success of the lightest bottle of champagne at 800 grams, Champagne Telmont continues to innovate, adopting the lightest "half-bottle" and and launching tests to lighten the weight of "magnums". After empirical tests, considering the entire champagne production cycle (draw, ageing, riddling, disgorging, packaging, etc.) right through to long-distance shipping, Champagne Telmont and Verallia have just completed a series of scientific pressure-resistance tests for 800-gram lightweight bottles.   The results are highly conclusive. The change from 835 to 800 grams therefore has no impact on the bottle's mechanical strength. These tests definitively validate the switch to lightweight bottles. As a result, Telmont will be extending its use to all its vintages.   Following on from this success, the house is also going to extend this lightweight approach to other formats, by now adopting the lighter 'half-bottle' (from 500g to 460g) and launching tests on the 'magnum' format.   Because of its manufacturing process, the bottle is one of the main sources of indirect CO2 emissions for a champagne house (24% of total emissions for Maison Telmont). Making bottles lighter, i.e. using less glass in their manufacture, reduces their environmental impact: lighter bottles have a lower impact, of the order of "-4%". Lighter bottles also mean less fuel for transport and energy savings.   "Telmont is very proud to have contributed to the development of this 800-gram bottle and to be able to go even further with other formats. These eco-designed bottles are a step forward for our House, for Champagne and for the ecological transition. In the name of Mother Nature! “ Ludovic du Plessis 🍾🌱🌏, President of Maison Telmont   "The resistance tests prove it: the 800-gram lightweight bottle tested by Telmont has everything it takes to become the new standard for Champagne bottles in the long term.” Pierre-Henri Desportes, President of Verallia France

Champagne Telmont is a finalist in the #AdelpheMillésime2024 competition!  What is Millésime? Created in 2020, the Millésime competition supports companies that reduce their environmental impact through packaging. It puts the spotlight on good practices that are still little known in the sector, but also by consumers, who expect companies to take action to protect the environment. With our project "In the Name of the Mother Nature", Champagne Telmont continues to push the boundaries of innovation and demonstrates how sustainability can be an infinite source of creativity. In recent years, we have:    ☘Worked towards converting our entire estate and the vineyards of our partner winegrowers to #organicfarming  ❌ 🎁 Stopped using packaging, because we make champagne, not gift boxes!   🚢 Stopped air freight and used sea transport  🍾 Stopped using transparent bottles and bespoke bottles whose carbon footprint is larger than standard green bottles  🍾 Adopted, thanks to our partnership with Verallia, the lightest champagne bottle: 800 grams, compared to 835. A true revolution in Champagne! And a reduced environmental impact!  🍾 Used transition glass for our bottles, which means using the quantities of glass normally discarded during the transition between two hues. The list is already long and just keeps expanding!   Your vote can help Champagne Telmont continue to inspire Champagne towards more sustainable practices.   So, vote now for Telmont and support our commitment "In the Name of Mother Nature": https://lnkd.in/eu3-VADU   #Sustainability #Innovation #AdelpheMillésime2024 #ChampagneTelmont
