3 seriously injured after suspect flees police & crashes in Columbia

A suspected thief crashed into a police car and another vehicle during a police chase in Columbia tonight, seriously injuring three people.

Howard County police said it began at about 5:50 p.m. when an officer saw a suspect trying to break into vehicles in a shopping center on Dobbin Road.

The suspect fled and rammed the unoccupied police vehicle and another vehicle, said police.

Police began chasing the suspect vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Impala.

The vehicle ultimately ran a red light on Snowden River Parkway at Snowden Square Drive, and struck a 2020 Honda H-RV.

Three people in the Honda - two adults and one child - were seriously injured and taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, said police.

The suspect was taken to Shock Trauma with serious injuries.
