I’m curious about the Series 10 silver aluminium’s back. It’s metal around the sensor (like the s1). That had corrosion issues for some people. I’m wondering if there’s an improved coating to prevent this happening.

Yikes there are some old posts here. 😱 Hope it’s not an issue. I believe even the silver is anodized (i.e., not raw aluminum) so if it does become a problem, the other aluminum colors would also be affected.

This is my Apple Watch bought in April 2016. Love this watch but I started noticing spots about 6 months into use. I used to think that aluminium didn’t corrode. Could this be corrosion from sweat?

I assumed the decision to drop the glass backing and switch back to aluminum was to make it lighter. But maybe in order to keep the watch at the same price as always, Apple is using less premium materials. Or they figure that many users trade up to a new model every year or two, so might not be concerned about corrosion. In any event, since I have acidic skin, I guess I’ll be extra careful to clean any sweat off the back every day.

We heard you don't like the microplastics getting into your body. Introducing micrometals! Simply add perspiration and the metal flakes will enter your skin. Soon, the whole watch will embed itself into your arm. Cyborg, anyone?

Here’s my first Apple Watch, the Series 1.
It looks like crap.

Starting with the Series 2 i’ve switched to the Stainless Steel models and now, because Apple decided to ditch SS in favor of Ti, i’ve bought a brand new Series 9 SS and i’m going to use it until it breaks. The last steel watch from Apple. I upgraded from a Series 7 SS.
All watches since S2 are the small ones, cuz i’m a 30 year old with baby hands lol.
