Went through some of the boxes that came with my ride….a first aid kit, a 2” trailer hitch, then I find the wiring harnesses and brackets for the trailer wiring.

I look under the LX and can clearly see where the cables connect to the vehicle. However, there is no place to mount the female wire receptacle that the male trailing wiring harness would connect to.

I even took off the spare tire seeing if I had to remove that in order to mount the bracket, still no luck.

Dealership had no advice.

Now I have a vehicle ready to tow 8k trailer, but does not offer any sort of hookups for the trailer lights…??

Does anyone have the trailer lighting female receptacle mounted on their rig? Can you post some photos?

Picture shows it’s located just the the left (USA drivers side) of the plastic piece you remove in order to install the 2” receiver.

I have a 40k toy that is supposed to be here anyday, but I guess the LX isn’t yet made to tow. 🤦🏼‍♂️

This page has some details that may help you.

Thanks, the area it is mounted in that photo was the area I was trying to make work, however it seemed so close to hitting the spare, as well the mount doesn’t fit flush to the frame at all.

As my mad art skills highlight in the below picture, you can see there is a curve to the bracket for some reason…which also lead me to believe it must mount somewhere else.

Oh well, looks like I will be removing the spare to get this installed this weekend. Definitely not a great or intuitive design & one would think that with the window sticker indicating the “tow package,” it would already be installed.

I will post a diy for others in the same boat.

Thanks again for the link.

The plug doesn’t come installed? At the very least it seems it should be a dealer installed item?

Your dealer should do this for you.

Dealer offered to install it, but I am about 7 hours from the closest dealership. They did send me this..

1). Spare tire needs to be removed
2). Install as shown below

When I messed around with it previously I lowered the spare, but didn’t remove it. I got myself a project for the weekend.

Yup, dealer should have done this as part of their PDI (which you paid for!).

Two bolts and two connectors should be more of a "break in between sips of beer" than a project ;). Knock it out and share some photos for those going through this in the future!

Easily a 1 banana job, I don’t care how inexperienced you are, you can do this if you happen to find yourself in the same position.

Tools Needed:
12mm socket/ratchet
Flat Head Screw Driver

For those who are comfortable working on their vehicle, here is the abridged version:
1). Lower spare (don’t need to disconnect it, just lower to the ground)
2). Mount bracket to frame using the 2-12mm bolts
3). Attach the black clip that runs along the wires to the bracket
4). Remove protective wiring caps from the wiring that is mounted on the vehicle
5). Attach white clip to cheap plastic piece
6). Smile that you bonded with your new LX

Pro Tips: If you have the “kick to open/close” tailgate don’t leave tools on your bumper, as you are likely to trigger it while underneath the car.

For those who have never turned a wrench (we have all been there), here is the detailed and illustrated instructions.

Grab the metal extension with a “t” on the end of it, add another extension to it (top to extensions just below the screwdriver) as well as the “L” shaped extension with the square in it (4th down from top)

Connect the 2 straight extensions together and insert the T side into the hole that was revealed when you removed the plastic cap, connect the “L” shaped lug nut wrench to the end of it:

Turn counterclockwise to lower the tire to the ground. It took a little more force than I expected, but worked fine once loosened up:

Attach the bracket using the 2 12mm bolts (note the black piece of metal protruding from the bracket between the two mounting points)
