Don Diego de Urbina, in his manuscript titled "Minute Book" writes verbatim: "NIETO: The name of this lineage and Grandchildren are the Kingdom of Leon, of great lineage, but there Dellos houses in Salamanca and Ledesma. first as it was called was a grandson of King of Leon and because he was living in the solar and royal palace said, "this is the grandson of the king" and so the name stuck and name their descendants about them in the Lion kingdom for those who bring weapons as a shield to stick gules and azure and over it a golden lion crowned with four lilies of silver in the four corners of the shield and among them four fig leaves ".The surname Nieto comes from Leon and they have their origin in a real home, the Kingdom of León. Don Francisco Zazo and Rosillo, King of Arms of Felipe V in his manuscript entitled "General Alphabet Surnames of Spain and Weapons" states: "The plot of the Nieto is near Allariz, there have been thirteen Commanders and Knights of all Orders This plot. In 1375 he found Don Martin Nieto Clavero the Order of Alcantara reigning Enrique, the 2nd of Castilla ". Don Francisco Piferrer also deals with the last name in his "Nobility of the Kingdoms and Dominions of Spain". One of his grandson, Juan Esteban Nieto, was honored Knight of the Golden Spur by King Ferdinand "the Catholic". Finally in the Order of Carlos III: Don Vicente Nieto of the Vines, 1,781; Don Juan Nieto and Cocolina, 1,755; Camilo Jose Nieto and del Busto, 1795; and Don Eustaquio Nieto and del Busto, 1832.
