Held in the beautiful Rancho Cordova area of Sacramento, participants can choose between a 5K or 10K distance, with an option for virtual participation as well. This fun run aims to raise crucial funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, honoring Bert Vicchio, a beloved figure in the racing community.
The event kicks off at 8:00 AM at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery, where runners will enjoy a scenic out-and-back course along the American River Trail. While there won’t be an official timing system this year, all participants will receive medals and goodie bags, with special awards for the top finishers in both the 5K and 10K categories. Join us in the fight against blood cancer while enjoying a healthy, active day outdoors! Don’t forget to arrive early for packet pick-up starting at 6:45 AM. Let's make a difference together!

Organiser's Description
Join us for a Fun Run (5k, 10k or virtual run/walk) to raise crucial funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in Honor of Bert Vicchio (Bertman)- race director's (Lianne Vicchio) dad. The fight to terminate blood cancer is ongoing and funds raised from the race will be donated to LLS.
Where: Nimbus Fish Hatchery (American River Parkway start line- going west towards downtown Sacramento) Parking is free, but limited. If the lot is full, we recommend to park above the fish hatchery off of Gold Country Blvd.
When: Saturday January 18th, 2025 8:00am
Course Description: This is an out and back course on the American River Trail starting at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery and moving West. THIS COURSE IS open and available to other river parkway users. PLEASE always stay to the left as walkers/runners on the bike trail. The aid station will be at the 10k turn around and no aid station for the 5k course. There is NO BATHROOM at race start, please plan accordingly. There is a Starbucks and a McDonalds less than a mile away. There is a bathroom on course.
Packet/Bib Pick-up is DAY OF ONLY. Starting at 6:45am, 1/18/25 at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery Parking lot. There are no official timing chips. Times will be logged manually. We hope in future years as this fundraiser grows, we will be able to add official timing to this race.
Goodie bags, bibs, and morning treats will be ready for you at check-in at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery parking lot. Medals will be awarded to all participants. Awards (Fleet Feet Gift cards) will be handed out for 1st place male and female in both the 5k and 10k. NO medals or awards will be mailed out if not collected on race day.
