Yesterday was an important milestone in our partnership with RCT Power, as we celebrated the delivery of more than 6,000 Quantum energy storage units!🔋 RCT Power supports our global pipeline of energy storage project orders. Our partnership was recently strengthened by an extended supply agreement, which allows us to ramp up manufacturing in Malaysia. The extension of the agreement enables us to provide significant benefits to our customers by diversifying our supply chain for energy storage products— a critical component for effective risk management and optimising end-to-end supply chain costs. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s not just our physical health that demands attention — our mental wellbeing is equally crucial. This week at Wärtsilä, we celebrate Safety Week with the theme “Mind Your Head.” It was a gentle but powerful reminder to prioritise mental health and physical safety. Mental health isn’t just a buzzword; it’s an essential foundation of a successful workplace. Studies have shown that mentally healthy employees are more productive, creative, and engaged. They also make safer decisions, which benefits themselves and their colleagues. According to a recent Gallup survey: ❤️ Employees who feel cared for are 6.3x more likely to be engaged. 🥱 They are 75% less likely to feel burnout. 👏 They are 4.4x more likely to recommend the company. This week, let’s pledge to prioritise our physical and mental health. Let’s uplift each other and integrate powerful habits into our daily routines to create a balanced and healthy life. Do you have some safety and wellbeing tips? Please share them in the comments below. #WartsilaSafetyDay #MindYourHead #FuelYourPower #wellbeing

Wärtsilä annual Safety Day is celebrated from 7 October to 13 October 2024. The theme this year is 'Mind your head,' focusing on protecting both our head and the mind. Invisible workplace hazards, such as psychosocial stress, can affect employees' mental and emotional well-being, leading to issues like fatigue, anxiety, depression, and unhealthy behaviours. These hazards are often unreported and difficult to identify. Establishing a culture of open communication and trust is crucial for preventing these hazards. Psychological safety within teams enhances organisational outcomes by empowering employees to share perspectives, take initiative, and innovate. It is essential for both mental and physical well-being and helps mitigate visible and invisible hazards. #SafetyDay #MindYourHead #PsychologicalSafety

Anthony Ngatia’s 10 years at Athi River II power plant “Growing up, my father encouraged me to read, but we had no electricity, and it got too dark in the evenings. So, he invested in a solar panel and battery, which we installed together. I had the honour to switch on the lights for the first time – that’s when I knew I wanted to become an electrical engineer.” ⚡Ngatia Antony joined Wärtsilä as an Electrical Operations Engineer at the Athi River II power plant in 2014. He now leads a small team as an Electrical Supervisor, ensuring that maintenance goes smoothly and his team members stay safe. The strong safety focus has enabled a zero-injury track record at the power plant. Anthony enjoys solving problems to repair components. Even if finding a solution takes time, he never gives up. At Wärtsilä, he appreciates his colleagues’ experience and passion, as well as continuous learning opportunities. 🏭 Athi River II comprises of 10 Wärtsilä 32 engines with a total output of 80.32 MW. It’s owned by our customer Gulf Power Limited and located in Athi River on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. #FuelYourPower #SustainableCareers #Careers

Due to the uncertainty around which alternative fuel is likely to become widespread, both in its availability and cost-effectiveness, owners and operators must balance long-term viability and immediate decarbonisation in the here and now. “In order to reach the 2050 IMO target, we need the industry to cross-collaborate. At Wärtsilä, we are taking the responsibility to deliver flexible and future-safe solutions, which can be easily adapted to future needs.” - Toni Stojcevski, GM of Project Sales & Development at Wärtsilä Marine This week, for Veriten’s latest C.O.B Tuesday podcast episode, Toni sat down with David Millar, Principal of Markets, Legislative, and Regulatory Policy at Wärtsilä Energy, Maynard Holt, Mike Bradley and Jeff Tillery to talk about the energy transition taking place in both the Marine and Energy sectors. On the marine side, Toni discussed the critical role of shipping in the global economy, the evolution of fuel use in shipping, and Wärtsilä’s broader efforts to develop solutions that meet emissions targets.
