Where we left off in Yellowstone season 5

Refresh your memory ahead of the final episodes.

It's almost time.

After five seasons of ranching, family drama, and more than a few trips to the train station, Yellowstone is preparing to launch its final episodes. But seeing as how part 1 of season 5 ended in January of 2023, we figured it might be helpful to prepare a little cheat sheet of what you need to remember — you know, just in case a full rewatch doesn't fit into your schedule.

And with only six episodes left, there's a lot for the beloved Paramount Network drama to wrap up.

Beth and Jamie

Beth (Kelly Reilly) taking a rock to Jamie's (Wes Bentley) head pretty much said it all, but let's get into the details. After Jamie claimed that Governor John Dutton (Kevin Costner) had violated state law and his sworn oath of office to act in the best interest of the state, he requested a senate tribunal seeking his father's impeachment.

When Beth learned of this, she broke into this house, hit him over the head, told him to resign, and then threatened to release the photo of him dumping his biological father's body at the train station ... until Jamie informed her that the train station is actually a long-standing family tradition, one that John (and Rip) knows well.

After she told her brother that "war is just beginning," she headed home, where John told her everything about their family's "trash can" of enemies. Beth's suggestion? Jamie is the next arrival at the train station. John's response? We didn't get to see it!

Back at Jamie's, he had a similar thought as he asked Sarah (Dawn Olivieri) if she knows of anyone who could take care of Beth. "They're professionals, they're not hit men," she told him. "It will look like a heart attack or a car accident." She then offered to meet with these "professionals" on behalf of Jamie.

John

Things weren't looking great for the governor when we last saw him. His son had just called for his impeachment, everyone found out about the wolves killed on his ranch, and he was about to leave town and head to Helena. What this all means for his story in part 2 is unclear given that Costner will not be returning.

Kayce and Monica

With John headed to Helena and Rip (Cole Hauser) leading the cowboys (and the cattle) to Texas, John asked Monica (Kelsey Asbille) if she and Kayce (Luke Grimes) would be willing to stay in East Camp — an old house that needs some work — and run the ranch so that it can be Tate's (Brecken Merrill) one day.

She agreed, and when she ran the idea by Kayce, she told him it might just be the way to dodge his vision of having to choose between her and the ranch. As she put it, "Maybe this is the way we have both."

Rip and the cowboys

Rip's story when we left him was pretty simple: He was headed to Texas with his fellow cowboys and a whole lot of cattle. (Beth had plans to fly out and visit him a week after he left.)

Yellowstone returns for its final season on Sunday, Nov. 10, on Paramount Network.
