TV The Golden Bachelor host on those emotional rose ceremonies: 'You haven't seen anything yet' Jesse Palmer says things will only get "tougher" for Gerry Turner. By Kristen Baldwin Kristen Baldwin Kristen Baldwin is the TV critic for EW EW's editorial guidelines Published on October 6, 2023 07:00AM EDT Each week during Gerry's season of The Golden Bachelor, host Jesse Palmer will answer a few questions about the widower's "journey" to find love. Today Jesse shares his thoughts via email about Gerry's first week of dates. ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: This week, the women moved into the mansion. From previous seasons, we know that when Bachelorette men are in the mansion, the kitchen is stocked with protein powder and chicken breasts, and that it's stocked with cookies and sweets when Bachelor women are living there. What snacks do the ladies of The Golden Bachelor like to have on hand? JESSE PALMER: These women were cooking up a storm each and every day in the mansion! Susan was making her Italian specialties with so many of the other women chipping in every night. This was easily the best food I've ever seen in the mansion since I've been hosting the show. The women toast to their new digs on 'The Golden Bachelor'. ABC That sequence when Gerry and Theresa were driving on the freeway with no headlights almost gave me a heart attack! What the hell happened with that car? I have no idea! Thank goodness everybody was okay. Gerry bonded with several women — including Theresa, Nancy, and Joan — over the shared experience of losing a spouse. What did he say to you about why those conversations were so meaningful for him? Gerry explained to me that experiences like those are tough to relate to when people haven't gone through it themselves. He was therefore able to have meaningful conversations and truly connect with some of the women who had experienced loss. Jesse Palmer comforts Gerry on 'The Golden Bachelor'. ABC Jesse, we're only on the second rose ceremony and Gerry was an absolute wreck saying goodbye to Peggy, Jeanie, and Natascha. How is he going to make it through the rest of the season? You haven't seen anything yet. The rose ceremonies will only get tougher and more emotional for Gerry. As the season progresses, his decisions carry more and more weight, and he doesn't take or make those decisions lightly. Natascha has a suggestion. ABC Natascha had a good suggestion about doing the Golden Bachelor rose ceremony in chairs. Should we expect the show to make this change in future episodes? It's a phenomenal idea by Natascha. Those women are standing in heels into the wee hours of the night! I would even suggest we try recliners.
