EW's editorial guidelines Published on April 8, 2019 04:46PM EDT We’ve gotta feeling that Tuesday night’s episode of The Rookie is going to be a good episode. Multi-hyphenate entertainer and The Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am is making a guest star appearance on the ABC sitcom as himself. The singer gets a fun moment of face-off with Officers Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bishop (Afton Williamson) as seen in the exclusive clip above. In the course of the rookies’ attempt to track down a specific set of crimes in a 48-hour period to qualify for a final exam, Nolan and Bishop respond to a silent alarm call at the house of an unidentified owner. That owner turns out to be Will.i.am, who is dismayed to find two cops in his yard without a search warrant — but first, they need to get a man who seems highly likely to be stalking Selena Gomez out of a tree. ABC Throughout The Rookie’s first season, the newest officers on the LAPD have come up against a series of challenges unique to Los Angeles, whether it be earthquakes, visits from VIP guests, and now, visiting the house of a celebrity in the process of an alarm call. Nearing the end of its first season, The Rookie has yet to nab a second season renewal — though the series was a feather in ABC’s cap for the fall 2018 season, given its ties to previous hit Castle with Fillion and creator Alexi Hawley. Indeed, it was so well favored, it earned a straight-to-series order. But ratings have never quite met ABC’s hopes for the series and thus its future remains in limbo. Will.i.am’s episode, titled “The Checklist,” airs Tuesday at 10 p.m. Watch the clip above for more.
