Will: Young Shakespeare seeks fame in series premiere clip

Young William Shakespeare (Laurie Davidson) is looking to make a name for himself.

In this exclusive clip from the series premiere of TNT’s Will, the young playwright and actor performs an excerpt of his work outside of Alice Burbage’s (Olivia DeJonge) window. He wishes to meet her father James, a theater impresario, but Alice demands that she hear what he’s made of before she agrees to make the introduction.

“Who are you? asks Alice once he’s done performing in the middle of the street.

“No one,” replies Will. “No one — yet.”

Featuring a modern soundtrack, the period drama follows a young Shakespeare as he enters London’s punk rock-esque theater scene in 1589. In addition to young Alice, he’ll also find an ally in her talented but self-involved brother Richard (Mattias Inwood) and will cross paths with rival playwright Christopher Marlowe (Jamie Campbell-Bower) and the notorious law enforcer Richard Topcliffe (Ewen Bremner).

The two-episode premiere airs July 10 at 9 p.m. on TNT.
