John Krasinski's Office costar says he's 'long overdue' as Sexiest Man Alive: 'Robbed every year since 2005'

Kate Flannery gushed that her old castmate is "so hot my eyes are melting every time I see him in person."

Kate Flannery has always thought John Krasinski's sexiness deserved recognition.

The actress, known for playing boozy supplier relations rep Meredith Palmer on The Office, reacted to her former costar's coronation as PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive with a spirited co-sign Wednesday. "This is so long overdue!" Flannery told TMZ. "John Krasinski's gotten robbed every year since 2005, in my opinion. It's so time."

Flannery thinks Krasinski's appeal should be obvious to anyone who's laid eyes on him. "Have you seen him lately?" she asked. "Have you seen him since Jack Ryan? He is so jacked up. He is so hot my eyes are melting every time I see him in person. He and Emily [Blunt, his wife] are so good-looking I have to squint. He is really, really hot. Is nobody paying attention? I'm so glad people are finally paying attention."

The actress hypothesized that elements of Krasinski's screen persona as everyman Jim Halpert on The Office have made the public overlook his sex appeal. "I'm not drunk, I'm telling you for real: John has always been adorable and really cute, but I feel like people haven't seen his sexiness since he's so cute," she said. "So it's the perfect marriage of two things: cute and hot and sexy and funny and smart and, I mean, he's much more than Jim."

Flannery recognized Krasinski's it factor from their earliest days together on The Office. "John was always one of the kindest, funniest, smartest kids," she recalled. "I mean, when I met him on The Office he hadn't done anything. I really hadn't done anything of note either. We also became famous together, and John always had that something, that really special something."

She concluded her remarks by praising Krasinski's multifaceted abilities as an entertainer. "He has so many talents," Flannery said. "He's an amazing director, he's an amazing actor. He's really funny, he's really smart — [but] he doesn't have to be funny. Because some people have to, and it's exhausting. So John is not exhausting. And yeah, you see a spark in someone right away, and John has always had it."

Flannery isn't the only Office star to react positively to the news. Angela Kinsey, who played Angela Martin on the sitcom, shared similar sentiments in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "I'm so tickled by it. I found out this morning," she said. "I love John. He's such a good person and I'm so happy for all the success he's having. But I think of him like my little brother, so this is like your little brother getting Sexiest Man Alive! You're kind of like, 'What is happening?' But he's such a cutie."
