EW's editorial guidelines Published on April 9, 2019 03:49PM EDT Camila Cabello is leaving the land of "Havana" (ooh na-na) and entering the land of pumpkin carriages (ooh na-na). The 22-year-old Fifth Harmony veteran will make her feature film acting debut in a new Cinderella movie, EW has learned. Now, here's where it gets more magical: This new take on the folk-tale material grew out of an original idea from The Late Late Show host and Carpool Karaoke fairy godfather James Corden. John Shearer/Getty Images; Stefanie Keenan/Getty Images When you factor in Blockers helmer Kay Cannon, who's also aboard to write and direct this Cinderella for Sony, it feels miles away from Disney's version with Lily James. Plus, Cabello is said to be integrally involved in the music for the film, implying there will be some sort of music component. So Cabello's starring, the story idea came from Corden, Cannon is writing and directing, and there's music. That already paints a picture of what this will be. The start of Cabello's acting career comes after her making a splash as a solo artist with her split from Fifth Harmony. "Havana," her highly popular single, broke the Spotify record for most-streamed song by a solo female artist, now with more than 1 billion streams. Cinderella, which is produced by Corden and Leo Pearlman, is being fast-tracked for production. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
