"They're consistently great," Damon told PEOPLE of the pair at Wednesday's New York premiere of The Instigators, his latest movie with Casey. "They're consistently incredible partners to work with. And no, there aren't really, usually, any surprises." Damon acknowledged the men do "get in creative arguments." But, he said, "Those are healthy, and we know each other well enough that our feelings don't really get involved and our egos don't get involved." Overall, he said, "It's a pretty healthy working relationship with both of them." "So when they say something, when they dig their heels in on something — any of them do — I pay attention, Damon told the magazine. "We all have blind spots creatively or otherwise. And, when I see somebody that I agree with so much feeling strongly about something, I look really carefully at it." Damon and Ben Affleck both famously won Oscars for cowriting the 1997 drama Good Will Hunting, and they've reteamed for movies such as last year's Air. As for Casey Affleck, Damon has costarred with him in movies such as the Ocean's 11 saga and 2023 blockbuster Oppenheimer. Matt Damon says he 'absolutely' sees the resemblance between him and Jesse Plemons Ben Affleck and Damon famously met as kids while growing up in their beloved hometown of Boston, and they even lived together while they were coming up in Hollywood. In July 2023, Affleck told Vanity Fair that he and Damon had somehow begun thinking they couldn't work together, because they would always be associated with one another. But they had given that up, as Damon said. A new Ben Affleck–Matt Damon collab is coming: Here are all their projects together so far "We can now look at the last 20 years and go like, 'Well, the benefit of hindsight, what would we have done differently?'" Damon asked. "And I think we both came to the conclusion that we would've worked together a lot more."
