Music Mark Ronson posts photo of torn-up Golden Globe acceptance speech in trash Ronson had two songs from "Barbie" nominated for the award and lost to a different song from "Barbie." By Dustin Nelson Published on January 9, 2024 03:43PM EST Barbie had a good shot at winning a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, with three of the category's six nominees coming from Greta Gerwig's hit. Unfortunately for Mark Ronson, the Barbie song that won the award wasn't one of the two for which he was nominated. Ronson took to Instagram on Monday to share photos from the award show, including a pair of images showing him and his wife Grace Gummer dressed in all-black Gucci outfits. The third image revealed his unused acceptance speech, torn-up and thrown in the trash. Ronson was nominated as part of the songwriting team for both "I'm Just Ken" and "Dance the Night." The award ultimately went to Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell's "What Was I Made For?" ballad. Mark Ronson. In a separate Instagram post about that award, Ronson wrote, "'Dance the Night' and 'What Was I Made For?' are all so indelible to the experience of this movie, any one of these songs deserving of the win…" Ronson also posted love for Eilish to his Instagram stories after the Golden Globes, writing, "Congrats to our Barbie bredren,” over a photo celebrating Eilish and O'Connell's win. In addition to winning an award at the Astras, Ronson accepted Ryan Gosling's Best Supporting Actor award by reading a funny and deeply confusing speech from Gosling off his phone. It's hard to make out what Ronson might have said if either of his songs had won a Golden Globe. However, it does appear that there's a thank you for Gerwig and some lyrics from the songs involved. While Barbie swept at the Astras and had the most Golden Globe nominations of any movie with nine, it only won awards for Eilish's song and in the new category of Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. Ronson will get another shot at winning trophies for his work on Barbie. He received four nominations at the Grammys and could still earn an Oscar nomination for "I'm Just Ken" or "Dance the Night."
