Lady Gaga surprises AC/DC's Brian Johnson, reveals she was a 'headbanging' extra in 'Stiff Upper Lip' video

The duo also teamed up to sing "Highway to Hell."

Christmas came a few days early for Lady Gaga, who just met a fellow music legend.

Fans thought they were the ones getting an early present when the pop icon made her Carpool Karaoke return for the new Christmas special. But host Zane Lowe —  filling in for usual host James Corden — made sure to get a little something special for Gaga, too.

After driving the superstar around to the tune of a few holiday tracks, Lowe revealed that he got Gaga a present, and pulled over, exiting the car. Seconds later, who should appear by the driver's seat but AC/DC frontman, Brian Johnson.

"Hello, my darling,” Johnson greeted, earning shocked laughter from Gaga. “My little Lady Gaga. My little darling.”

“Oh, my God," Gaga said as Lowe got in the backseat. "You brought me Brian Johnson?”

The musicians then shared a hug before Johnson took the wheel of the Range Rover.

"You guys ready to rock?" Lowe asked, to which Gaga replied, "This is the moment."

From there, Johnson and Gaga began a duet of the AC/DC hit, “Highway to Hell." They eventually get so into the song that Johnson fully took his hands off the wheel — to clasp hands with Gaga — leading her to panic and grab the wheel instead.

“I got it! I’m using my secret weapon,” Johnson assured her.

“We’re all gonna die," Gaga answered, shielding her eyes.

The surprises didn't stop there. After their duet, Gaga dropped a nugget of info that was clearly a revelation to Johnson.

“You wanna hear something funny? I was in the ‘Stiff Upper Lip’ video,” Gaga shared, referencing the 2000 music video for yet another beloved AC/DC track.

Johnson, shocked, replied, “No you weren’t!”

“I was 17, and I was an extra in the back," Gaga explained. "I was headbanging and they were like, 'Hmmm. Don’t head bang, we want it to be modern.' And I was like, 'No, there’s only one move that I can do.'"

When it came time for Johnson to depart, he said, "My lady, merry Christmas, to you and your family," then joked, "and I should've told you that I don't have a license."

Entertainment Weekly reached out to representatives for Lady Gaga to confirm the age she appeared in the AC/DC video but did not immediately receive a response.

Prior to Johnson's appearance, Gaga showed a video of her grandmother, who died in 2022, scream-singing along to "Highway to Hell."

"She had a really hard life and she was the most positive person, no matter what,” Gaga shared. "I was 19, and I was staying with her, and I was going through a really tough time and she said to me, 'I'm gonna let you cry for the rest of the day, and then you're gonna wake up tomorrow and go kick some ass.'"

A Carpool Karaoke Christmas also featured Lowe singing along with Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan, and is now available to stream on Apple TV+.
