TV Judge Steve Harvey, Amazon's new animated Batman series, and a truly Cuckoo film top this week's Must List Also, a "Freaky Friday" rewatch in honor of the film turning 21 years old, and a new James S.A. Covey book round out our picks. By EW Staff Published on August 9, 2024 11:10AM EDT This past weekend I hosted my dad and stepmom in from Texas. They're Turner Classic Movies superfans, so I took them on the TCM version of the Warner Bros. studio tour. Seeing their faces light up when our fabulous tour guide, Rebeka, pointed out a backlot street filled with homes that Jimmy Stewart characters lived in over his decades filming on the lot was like watching a kid experience Disneyland — but I was happily surprised to realize this jaded entertainment journalist was just as thrilled stepping into Hollywood history. If you're in L.A., do yourself a favor and find your way to Burbank and Rebeka. —Patrick Gomez, Editor-in-Chief P.S. Judge Steve Harvey, Hunter Schaffer in Cuckoo, and Batman top Must List. ABC; Amazon Prime; Everett Collection Judge Steve Harvey Steve Harvey on 'Judge Steve Harvey'. ABC This comedic court show (season 2 on ABC/Hulu now) is the most feel-good reality series around. "This is where common sense presides," Harvey's intro intones — and the 67-year-old comedian issues plenty of it from the bench. ("Boy, I can't believe you ain't slapped yourself yet," he scolds a 23-year-old defendant who owes his mama car payments.) Whether adjudicating a dispute between neighbors or a wife suing her husband for lack of intimacy, Judge Harvey rules with a firm, funny hand, suffering fools just long enough to teach them the error of their ways. —Kristen Baldwin, TV Critic Read more about Judge Steve Harvey Batman: Caped Crusader 'Batman: The Animated Series' on Amazon Prime. In her first lead film role (opposite a fantastic Dan Stevens), Euphoria sensation Hunter Schafer carries Neon's madcap horror-thriller as Gretchen, a reluctant teen who moves with her dad and his new family to a remote resort in the German Alps where all is not as it seems. —Mike Miller, Executive Editor "The Mercy of Gods" by James S.A.
