EW's editorial guidelines Published on June 13, 2024 02:36PM EDT The View star Joy Behar has questioned Miley Cyrus' latest revelation that she inherited narcissism from her famous father, Billy Ray Cyrus. After the pop star and Hannah Montana actress told David Letterman on the Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction that her dad passed his narcissistic traits to his daughter, Behar disputed the idea Thursday morning at the Hot Topics table. "Miley thinks she has inherited narcissism. You know what? I can't agree with you, Miley," the 81-year-old said, which prompted cohost Sara Haines to ask, "You know Billy Ray that well?" "I had the exact same thought. I know a lot of narcissists, I may have worked for one, and they never know that they're narcissists. They're incapable of it," Griffin said. "So, good for you, Miley. You're not a narcissist!" Behar ultimately clarified that she "worked with her on something" and that Cyrus is "lovely," but she still couldn't come around to accepting that the "Flowers" singer was predisposed to be a narcissist. Still, Ana Navarro praised Cyrus for discussing her relationship with her father "in a realistic way" by acknowledging the "challenges" of a non-perfect father-daughter relationship, instead of pretending like they had an ideal bond. Watch a 'plague of flies' invade The View set to terrorize Ana Navarro: 'It looked like a Chihuahua' "Yeah, but she's wrong about the [narcissism]," Behar cut in. "She's not. Alright, next." Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Cyrus for comment. Behar has long voiced opinions about the public dealings of other celebrities from her post on The View, even recently telling Jennifer Lopez to keep her "mouth shut" regarding her public relationships to avoid further scrutiny from the public.
