Baby Driver child star Hudson Meek dies at 16 after fall from moving vehicle

Meek played the younger version of Ansel Elgort's character in Edgar Wright's 2017 action film, among other credits.

Hudson Meek — a child star whose credits include Baby Driver, the MacGyver reboot, and several voice credits — died on Dec. 21 at age 16, his family announced.

The actor's death was reportedly due to blunt force injuries sustained "after falling to the road from a moving vehicle," Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates told Alabama news site Al.com. The outlet reported the injury occurred at 10:45 p.m. local time on Thursday, Dec. 19, and, after being taken to the hospital, the teen was pronounced dead at 7:59 p.m. Saturday.

"Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met," read a statement posted on his Instagram account on Saturday, also noting that a celebration of life ceremony would take place on Dec. 28. "Please pray for Hudson’s family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss," it concluded.

Representatives for Meek did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The budding actor's buzziest credit was Edgar Wright's 2017 action caper Baby Driver, in which he played the younger version of Ansel Elgort's Baby.

Per IMDb, Meek's acting career began with an uncredited role in 2014 Lifetime TV movie The Santa Con, starring Melissa Joan Hart, in which his brother, Tucker Meek, also appeared. His résumé also includes episodes of CBS' reboot of action series MacGyver, the CW's Legacies, the "MLK/X" season of National Geographic's Genius, and NBC's Found, which he guested as the teenage version of Mark-Paul Gosselaar's character, Sir. He's also credited in a lead voice role as Bada in animated Youtube series Badanamu Cadets and Badanamu Stories.

A full obituary linked to from Meek's Instagram account noted he had other upcoming roles as well. "Hudson was also an accomplished actor. He worked on several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which will be released in 2025," it said. "He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew."
