For whatever reason, a front-door Ring camera seems more practical than kid binoculars. The house in Winnetka, Ill., featured in 1990's Home Alone, directed by Chris Columbus and starring Macaulay Culkin, went on the market for $5.25 million. And now, just in time for Christmas — that infamous holiday when the family of Culkin's 8-year-old Kevin McCallister left him behind while they went on vacation — homeowners bought the property in less than a week from the listing. "We’re thrilled with the way this home captured everyone’s attention and hearts due to its well-deserved place in cinematic history and the timeless holiday memories it evokes," listing agents Dawn McKenna and Katie Moor of Coldwell Banker Realty told PEOPLE in a statement. The listing received national attention, especially after Culkin himself revealed that he once considered buying it. "I had half a mind to buy it — just for giggles," he said earlier this month. "I got kids," he added. "I'm a busy man." According to Mansion Global, Tim and Trisha Johnson previously purchased the house in 2012 for $1.585 million. It was originally built in 1921, but it was renovated in 2018 to include amenities like French doors opening into the backyard, a family room, and a chef's kitchen. Trisha revealed earlier this past May, "Sometimes we'll hear the Kevin scream [from outside]. It's a lot of fun to see people as excited as they are just to see my house."
