Get an exclusive first look at Adam Driver as a grieving country singer in Hold on to Me Darling revival

Adam Driver returns to the stage for a revival of Kenneth Lonergan’s Hold on to Me Darling.

Entertainment Weekly can share exclusive first-look photos of the stage production from Tony-nominated director Neil Pepe (American Buffalo) ahead of its Oct. 16 opening night at Lucille Lortel Theatre.

The Off-Broadway tragicomedy stars Driver as Strings McCrane, a country music icon who finds himself at a crossroads following the death of his mother. Abandoning superstardom, he moves back to his hometown in Tennessee in favor of the simple life.

Heather Burns (as Nancy), Adelaide Clemens (Essie), Keith Nobbs (Jimmy), CJ Wilson (Duke), and Frank Wood (Mitch) round out the cast of the production, set for a 13-week limited run through Dec. 22.

Driver, who most recently starred in Francis Ford Coppola's sci-fi drama Megalopolis, made his Off-Broadway debut in 2009's Slipping and his Broadway debut the following year in Mrs. Warren's Profession. He is a 2012 Lucille Lortel Award winner for his performance in Look Back in Anger and earned a Tony nomination for his work in 2019's Burn This.
