Eddie Redmayne is a master of disguise in The Day of the Jackal first-look teaser trailer

Teaser premiered during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics.

The first trailer for Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne's action-packed Peacock series The Day of the Jackal premiered during the opening ceremony at 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Theory of Everything actor stars as an "unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal," according to the streamer's show description. He "makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake."

The cat in this scenario, Bianca, is portrayed by Lashana Lynch, whose credits include Bob Marley: One Love and Captain Marvel.

Meanwhile, Redmayne's title character is shown riding the highway with his love, Nuria, who's played Spanish actress Úrsula Corberó, who appeared in Netflix's Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It's unclear if she knows what he's up to, because she's taken aback upon seeing a mold of his face in a scene from the new trailer.

That checks out with what Lynch says early on: that her team's target "never looks the same way twice."

Interspersed throughout the trailer's drama, Redmayne's titular character carries out his dirty work — spying through binoculars, scaling a building, loading a gun, pursuing his prey — as eerie music plays in the background.
