The event, which was hosted by the Toronto-based bakery Casuals Cakery, saw a collection of individuals who believed they resembled the “God’s Plan” rapper turn up at its storefront in his hometown to vie for the title on Saturday, the Toronto Star reports. And, if being compared to Drake wasn’t sweet enough, the rapper is also reportedly gifting the winner a $10,000 cash prize. I can’t believe this is ur account and u know about this. Omg I love you.” A representative for Drake did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment about his contribution to the contest. While the five-time Grammy winner did not appear at the event, the Toronto Star reported that around 20 of his best doppelgängers — each with their own signature name, like “Montreal Drake” — showed up, answered questions as the rapper, and performed a medley of his songs as part of the competition. In the end, Makayla Chambers, who was one of two female contestants at the event, won by sporting a fleece jacket, pigtails, and drawn-on beard. “It feels great,” the 21-year-old told outlet. “It feels like I made it.” Video footage from the event, posted by The Brandon Gonez Show, also shows the competitors all posing together while surrounded by a cheering crowd. In addition to Drake's reported $10,000 contribution, the original prize for the lookalike contest was a “Toronto Manz” starter pack, which included a bottle of Hennessy as well as a pack of Backwoods cigars. Since then, the number of contests has grown exponentially and spread across the globe, with lookalikes crowned for Jeremy Allen White, Paul Mescal, and Dev Patel, amongst others. And, like Drake’s, they’ve also come with their own unique prizes, including Glen Powell's doppelgänger being awarded a cameo appearance in his next film.
