EW's editorial guidelines Published on June 20, 2024 09:44AM EDT The boy is Brandy's — and so is revenge in the wickedly thrilling new trailer for her upcoming horror film The Front Room. Unlike anything you've ever seen from the recording artist before, The Front Room stars Brandy as a young mama-to-be who, following the death of her husband's father, agrees to let her racist, potentially demonic mother-in-law from hell (Poor Things star Kathryn Hunter) move into their home. Brandy and Kathryn Hunter in 'The Front Room' trailer. A24 Things quickly turn problematic and violent for the dueling pair, who spar over everything from the proper pronunciation of her name (my name is "Belinda!" Brandy screams as Hunter crawls across the floor away from her. "Belinda!") to Hunter's character taking over the bedroom meant for the couple's impending baby. Eventually, the elderly woman soon brings a gaggle of friends to invade the home, too, causing Belinda's world to come crashing down — until she begins fighting back. Based on writer Susan Hill's short story of the same name, The Front Room was written and directed by Max and Sam Eggers, the brothers of The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman helmer Robert Eggers.
