TV Boston Rob Mariano to host Deal or No Deal Island After Show He's back on the (Banker's) island. By Dalton Ross Dalton Ross California Dreams was better than Saved by the Bell. There, I said it. EW's editorial guidelines Updated on December 16, 2024 02:19PM EST Comments Boston Rob Mariano may not have won season 1 of Deal or No Deal Island, but the reality TV legend is heading back to the Banker's island for season 2. While Rob will not be competing alongside fellow Survivor legends Parvati Shallow and David Genet on the second season of the NBC hybrid adventure-competition-program-meets-game-show (which premieres Jan. 7), he will still be mixing it up with all the new contestants as the host of the franchise's official after-show. The Robfather will be hosting the appropriately titled Deal or No Deal Island After Show with Boston Rob, which will be available to stream on Peacock, NBC's YouTube channel, and NBC.com every Wednesday following new episodes of DONDI on Tuesday night. In an announcement about his new hosting duties, NBC wrote that "Each week Rob will sit down with eliminated players to break down gameplay, talk drama on the island and share never-before-seen footage from the show." Boston Rob's run on season 1 of DONDI ended in controversy in the final-four excursion, when he was assessed a three-minute time penalty for walking over and looking at Amy McCoy's number puzzle answer. It is a move that is allowed on Survivor, but host Joe Manganiello specifically instructed all the players before the excursion to not look at each other's boards during the challenge. "No shade, I definitely looked at the other person's puzzle, and that's it. I mean, I'm not going to sit here and make an excuse." But in general, the player enjoyed his time in the game. "I feel like based on what I had to work with, I did the best I could, and I got really lucky in a lot of spots," he said. "And overall, just a spectacular experience. A lot of fun." Now Mariano will have a chance to critique the games of the new contestants — a cast that not only includes Parvati and David from Survivor and Australian Survivor, but Big Brother legend Dr. Will Kirby as well, and if the thought of a Boston Rob and Dr. Will sit-down interview does not sound enticing, then you clearly have not watched enough reality competition shows from the early 2000s. Check out a preview video of Mariano's after-show above, where he informs one mystery player, "You made some massive, I don't want to call them mistakes, egregiously bad decisions." Yep, sounds like Rob.
