Music Billie Eilish reacts to learning Rihanna wants to collaborate with her: 'I'll literally do anything you want' Eilish confessed that the Barbadian baddie is "literally my idol. She's the greatest of all time." By Ryan Coleman Published on December 5, 2024 11:00PM EST Comments The love between Billie Eilish and Rihanna continues to shine bright like a diamond. The pop superstars have been trading words of admiration back and forth for the past couple months, culminating in Eilish telling Complex on Thursday that when she first caught wind that Ri had listed her as a "dream collaborator," she "literally thought it was AI." "I've never met Rihanna," Eilish continued. "She's literally my idol. She's the greatest of all time. She's my complete dream collab. I don't even answer that question when people are like, 'Who would you like to collab with?' But I always think Rihanna. I'm not going to say that, though! Why would I say that?! It's not real. I would think, like, 'She probably doesn't even like me.' I've never heard from her and I've never had any interaction with her, so why would I have ever even thought about it?" Then the following month she confessed to Eilish's same feeling of shock that she counts an artist of her caliber as a fan. "Billie Eilish knows me? Billie is the most anti, coolest girl ever. In my mind she doesn’t listen to commercial music. I feel like she’s just creating her diary vocally. You can feel like she’s just zoned into who she is and what she’s experiencing and what she’s feeling." Eilish told Complex that when she heard Rihanna say she'd like to collaborate again, she thought, "'Well, b----, I've been sitting here this whole time!' What the f--- is she even talking about? Honestly. What do you mean, 'If only?!' It's, like, as if I've been saying, 'No.' Rihanna! Riri!? I'll literally do anything you want. That's insane." Over the past decade Rihanna has largely stepped away from music to focus on her fashion brand Fenty and children with A$AP Rocky. She released her last album, Anti, in 2016, and delivered a memorable medley of her hits as the headliner of last year's Super Bowl halftime performance. Eilish, meanwhile, released her critically-acclaimed third album this year. But Eilish did appear on the viral remix to Charli XCX's Brat deep cut "Guess" in August. Billie Eilish at Lollapalooza in 2023. Charli's awesome, and she's finally getting the attention that she deserves," Eilish said. But the "Bad Guy" singer confessed that, "My dream collab, aside from whatever Rihanna wants, is not having to have any contact with anybody. Even if it's somebody I'm super close to." Eilish was recently nominated for seven Grammys, including for the coveted Record of the Year and Album of the Year awards. She'll contend alongside Charli XCX against seasoned vets like Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and Ariana Grande in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, and then against the British chanteuse in four other categories.
