Stars react to their 2021 Golden Globes nominations

It took quite a few delays in the face of a global pandemic, but awards season is still happening as it usually does with the Golden Globes setting the tone for what films could lead to Oscars, and what new TV shows could be Emmy contenders.

Nominations were announced live early Wednesday by Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson. As they sped through the list of names, it became a big day for projects like Promising Young Woman, The Crown, and Mank. See the nominees' reactions below — we'll be updating as the day goes on — and check out the full list of nominations here.

Ozark (Best Television Series – Drama)

Chris Mundy (Showrunner)

"If the last year's taught us anything, it's how lucky we feel just to get to make the show. So, thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the extra reason to feel good. It's great to be in the company of all these amazing shows."

Laura Linney (Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama)

"Thank you Hollywood Foreign Press for recognizing Ozark! What a thrill to be nominated during this locked-down, memorable, crazy, upside down, challenging year. I am so proud to be included in this amazing list of nominees. And special congratulations to Regina King!!!!"

Ratched (Best Television Series – Drama)

Sarah Paulson (Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama)

"Bringing Mildred Ratched to the screen was a labor of love, and today's nominations are the cherry on top. I am thrilled for Cynthia, and am proud of our entire brilliant cast and tireless crew. Much love and gratitude to Mr. Ryan Murphy and to the HFPA for this honor."

From an additional interview with EW:

"Here I am on the morning of the Golden Globe nominations being recognized for my work at 46 years old. It feels like, for the fourth time now from the HFPA, it's an enormous honor. I don't ever want to lose that part of me that thinks this is a very lucky, rarefied air to be breathing and to really just hold onto my gratitude about it because I have so many extraordinarily talented friends who do not get to make a living doing what they love and the fact that I get to, this always has to just be frosting on a very, very delicious cake."

Cynthia Nixon (Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

"I knew when Ryan Murphy asked me to play Gwendolyn that it was going to be one of the highlights of my career. I am so honored that the HFPA chose to recognize RATCHED and Sarah Paulson's and my performances in it. I have been over the moon about the way audiences embraced 'Midolyn' and shared Ryan's excitement at the idea of having two queer women play these queer characters. I share this recognition with Sarah, the rest of the incredible cast, Ryan Murphy, our crew, and Netflix."

The Crown (Best Television Series – Drama)

Peter Morgan (Creator)

"All of us on The Crown are thrilled to be recognised in this way by the HFPA. This season really seems to have resonated with audiences of all generations all around the world, and we could not be more grateful or more proud."

Working on The Crown was the most magical experience in no small part thanks to the incredible cast and crew that supported and helped guide me through, including my wonderful friend, Josh O'Connor who has so deservingly been recognised today as well. It has been a privilege to be part of The Crown family and to portray our version of Diana... "Well, You Know, By Being A Mad Tree."

Gillian Anderson (Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

"I am so thankful to the HFPA for this nomination and for recognising me alongside these extraordinary women, and also to the fans of The Crown for supporting us this season. Helena Bonham Carter (Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

"It's a pleasure for me to be included in the Golden Globes this morning but it's particularly gratifying to see so many of my co-stars nominated as well, including the show itself. It's been a great and happiest of jobs and I hope we have provided some diversion in this bonkers time. I miss my fake Royal family. Now that our tenure is over, I couldn't have asked for a nicer retirement present."

I'm beyond thrilled the series was recognized and I feel so lucky to be in a category including such incredible women who have kept me laughing and smiling all year long. The greatest gift of playing Emily has been providing a sense of escapism and fun during a time when we all needed it most. I'm so proud of this show and so thankful to the HFPA, Netflix, Darren and the entire cast and crew without whom Emily would be truly lost. I'm also incredibly proud of my Mank family and sending them so much love as well! I'm overwhelmed with happiness. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Bisous!"

The Flight Attendant (Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy)

Steve Yockey (Creator)

"Thanks so much to the HFPA for recognizing our show and Kaley's incredible performance. I'm overwhelmed by the response. It's honestly a little surreal. And it's a credit to everyone involved who worked like mad to bring The Flight Attendant to life, especially our cast and crew who delivered during this pandemic under the wildest conditions."

Kaley Cuoco (Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy)

"OMG! My heart is still pounding and the tears won't stop flowing! Thank you HFPA for these incredible nominations. This is truly the highlight of my entire career and I couldn't be more excited and proud to share this recognition with the most incredible cast and crew. This feels like a dream!"

Thank you to MRC and Hulu for their continued support and very delighted that the inspired work of Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult have been recognised."

Nicholas Hoult (Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy)

"The first time I attended the Golden Globes, I was a 12 year old boy. Who knew that playing a drunk, philandering, sex-addicted, depraved, megalomaniac was my way back! 'TOOSH!' The point is, I feel so honored to have had this organization as a part of my life since I was a kid. I am incredibly grateful for this recognition – playing Peter has been such incredible fun, and I can't begin to express how lucky I feel to have done it all alongside the amazing Elle Fanning with the completely brilliant Tony McNamara leading the way. Huzzah!"

Elle Fanning (Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy)

"I can't think of a more appropriate time to scream HUZZAH!!! I am so overwhelmed by the news of our Golden Globe nominations. Thank you HFPA for recognizing our show The Great, Nick and me. Catherine, Jane, Kaley and Lily have all created such inspiring and memorable performances this year, and I am honored to be nominated beside them. I love the entire cast, crew, and fellow producers of The Great from the bottom of my heart. MRC and HULU have provided us with the most tremendous support and the best partnership we could ask for. I also want to thank Tony McNamara for writing this incredible character of Catherine, a young woman who finds herself in a backwards world and is willing to take the steps, no matter how much it asks of her, to try and change it for the better. And to Nick, my on screen husband, who is utterly masterful as Peter."

Playing Marianne was a beautiful and complex journey and she is a character who I will always treasure close to my heart, and indeed fringe!"

The Queen's Gambit (Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

William Horberg (Executive Producer)

"The Queen's Gambit was an international production and a worldwide phenomenon, so it's wonderful to be honored with these nominations from the Hollywood Foreign Press. Super proud of the amazing Anya, and gratitude to my partners Allan Scott and my old friend Scott Frank who is a consummate storyteller but fairly average chess player."

Anya Taylor-Joy (Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

"Wonderful news to wake up to – thank you to the HFPA for their love towards Emma and The Queen's Gambit. What a joy."

My sincere gratitude to my collaborators David E Kelley, Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Stephen Garrett, Bruna Papandrea, Hugh Grant, HBO and everyone who helped lead this show to its global success."

Hugh Grant (Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

"I'm very grateful. Just to be nominated is a massive honour. Though I would remind the HFPA that I still have the sculpting hammer. I'm also v proud for the show itself and happy for Nicole and Donald for their nominations."

Nicole Kidman (Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

"Thank you to my wonderful friends at the HFPA!!! To wake up in Sydney to 4 nominations for our show is an incredible way to start the day. This has been the journey of a lifetime—from David E. I Know This Much is True

Mark Ruffalo (Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

The Comey Rule

Jeff Daniels (Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

"The Comey Rule wasn't just a project. It mattered and continues to matter. In an important election year, I knew some people might have said 'shut up and stay out of politics,' but the reason I couldn't is simple: I've got kids and grandkids, and I wanted them to know that I was on the right side of history. In a divided country like ours, you might risk losing half an audience with these choices, but this was just too important. Thank you to the HFPA for this honor, to Showtime for their support, and to Billy Ray for his tenacity. Also to the cast – half of my performance has always been in the other actors around me, so this nomination is as much yours as it is mine."

Brendan Gleeson (Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

"I'm on set in London and just heard the brilliant news. A big shout out to Jeff Daniels — the yin to my yang and the finest scene partner in any Oval Office. A big thanks to Billy Ray, James Comey and all the cast and crew...and to Showtime for airing this timely series. I'm thrilled and honored by this recognition."

The Good Lord Bird

Ethan Hawke (Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television)

"Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this honor. From its inception, THE GOOD LORD BIRD was a passion project for everyone involved and I am so proud of the final product. I'm thrilled to be nominated alongside all the incredible talent in this category. I share this recognition with James McBride, whose words continue to inspire me, and the whole cast and crew who made the series the triumph that it is."

Mank (Best Motion Picture – Drama)

Amanda Seyfried (Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture)

"This is a dream come true! David Fincher gave me the opportunity of my life with being able to share Marion Davies' story. I loved portraying this incredibly strong, funny, and earnest woman in such a rare collaboration by David Fincher and his beloved father, Jack. I'm beyond grateful to my friends at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for my first nomination and for recognizing a film that truly celebrates the art of filmmaking. It's so exciting to share this with David and the cast and crew of Mank."

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (Best Original Score)

"Both Soul and Mank led us down unfamiliar roads as composers. We are beyond thrilled for your recognition of our work on both films. We'd like to thank both camps - Pixar and David Fincher - for being such generous collaborators and for providing such rich canvasses to explore. Thank you HFPA." — Trent Reznor

Promising Young Woman (Best Motion Picture – Drama)

Emerald Fennell (Best Director – Motion Picture; Best Screenplay – Motion Picture)

"Unbelievably thrilled and honored for Promising Young Woman to be among so many incredible nominees at this year's Golden Globes. Thank you so much to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this amazing recognition! The film was only possible because of the immensely gifted, wonderful and brilliant cast and crew who worked impossibly hard to make it real, and because our amazing producers and Focus believed in it. It's impossible to truly express the depth of my gratitude without swearing so I'd better stop here."

Carey Mulligan (Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama)

"Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this recognition. Emerald Fennell's vision for Promising Young Woman was so unique and uncompromising. She is one of the most talented filmmakers I've ever worked with. I'm so incredibly grateful she came to me with this project and I was thrilled to see her recognized alongside Chloe Zhao and Regina King this morning. I also wanted to thank Margot Robbie and LuckyChap Entertainment for helping get this film made and their unwavering support."

The Father (Best Motion Picture – Drama)

David Parfitt (Producer)

"On behalf of Florian Zeller, Christopher Hampton, Anthony Hopkins, Olivia Colman, David Parfitt, Philippe Carcassonne & Jean-Louis Livi, we would like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this great honour. We are all proud to be associated with a film that has so much to say about the human condition.

We would also like to thank Les Films Du Cru, Film4, Sony Pictures Classics, Embankment and Lionsgate for all their support, and for making this film possible."

Anthony Hopkins (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama)

"Thank you to the HFPA for this recognition. Making The Father with Florian Zeller, Christopher Hampton, Olivia Colman and the entire creative team was one of the true highlights of my career. I am so proud of everyone's work on this movie and thankful to the HFPA for having acknowledged our movie so generously."

The Trial of the Chicago 7 (Best Motion Picture – Drama)

Aaron Sorkin (Best Director – Motion Picture; Best Screenplay – Motion Picture)

From an interview with EW:

"I always wanted the movie to be about today and not 1968. I just never in my wildest dreams imagined how much about today it would end up being. I started working on this 15 years ago. We thought the film was plenty relevant last winter when we were making it. We didn't need it to get more relevant, but then it did. [In 2020 in] cities around the country, protests were being met by riot clubs and tear gas, and then as the grand finale, on Jan. 6, Donald Trump stood at a microphone and did exactly what the Chicago 7 were on trial for doing."

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom

Viola Davis (Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama)

News of the World

Helena Zengel (Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture)

"Wow, what an honor! I am very excited to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Shooting News of the World was the first time I've ever been to America and I had such an amazing experience working and learning alongside Tom Hanks and Paul Greengrass. I was thrilled to bring the character of Johanna to life. I'm celebrating this nomination all the way from Berlin and sending a big thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for my first nomination!"

James Newton Howard (Best Original Score)

"Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this incredible honor. Paul Greengrass gave me a great musical opportunity. It feels like my birthday."

One Night in Miami...

Leslie Odom Jr. (Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture; Best Original Song – Motion Picture)

From an interview with EW:

"Regina King and Kemp Powers gave a room full of Black men the opportunity to work on a piece like One Night in Miami... and honor the legacies of these giants… When I first started out in this business, I felt like I saw my white brothers and sisters that I'd gone to school with and lived with getting the opportunities for this kind of variety in their careers, this type of range. I just was hopeful, but it's hard to hold on to hope. So to wake up on a morning like this when your vision stops being hazy and starts to get a little clearer, that's really an encouraging thing."

Pieces of a Woman

Vanessa Kirby (Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama)

"I am truly honoured to be nominated for Pieces of a Woman, and so grateful to the HFPA for recognising the film in this way.

This film has always been about the mothers and families who have lost, giving a voice to their stories, and breaking the silence around something so rarely spoken about.

Thank you to Netflix for making it possible for so many to experience, and to the HFPA for supporting this story of female courage and resilience, in the face of a grief which at times, connects us all."

Sound of Metal

Riz Ahmed (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama)

"Thank you HFPA for this incredible honour. Bringing Ruben to life changed me. It was a gift given to me by Darius Marder's daring genius, and the radical empathy of my teachers Jeremy Lee Stone, Leighton Grant, Guy Licata, Gregory Berger-Sobeck. Special thanks to all those in the Deaf community I was privileged to be guided by, as well as Paul Raci, Olivia Cooke, and all our cast and crew. Thank you to Amazon and Caviar for all the support."

In a further statement to EW:

"Feels lovely. It's been a really long journey for this movie -- and even longer for [director] Darius Marder, who started working on this movie 13 years ago. It's something that has been so close to his heart, and so close to all our hearts who worked on this -- kind of like a little family that formed over this intense, low-budget shoot that took place against the odds. It's one of those crazy stories where you don't know if anyone will see this or how it will all turn out -- but it did in this incredible way that people seem to be connecting with.

It's just beautiful to see this film get this kind of shine, and also so many other films get the kind of shine that they maybe might not have in a normal year. With longer periods of time for people to check something out, and the fact that some of the bigger films were pushed, it has really created a lot of space. These more character-driven smaller films are the life blood of the industry, particularly in terms of where you discover new talent -- people like [Sound of Metal co-star] Paul Raci, who unfortunately was not nominated today, but rightly has been so celebrated for his performance in the film.I was excited to see Tahar Rahim nominated [for The Mauritanian] -- the story those guys told was really important, and Tahar is a friend who I worked with on Black Gold [released as Day of the Falcon in 2011]. I haven't [talked to him yet], I've sort of just woken up! I don't really think about it as going up against him, I just think it's beautiful that his work is being celebrated and in a way it might not have had time to be digested by viewers and voters in the past. I feel like when good work is celebrated that we all win."

Tenet

Ludwig Göransson (Best Original Score)

"Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this honor on behalf of TENET, a thrilling, dream-come-true project that creatively and technically pushed me beyond anything I have ever done. I am profoundly grateful to Christopher Nolan for so fully inviting me into his enthralling world and for taking me on a journey that has forever altered the way I think of music."

The Little Things

Jared Leto (Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture)

"I am so incredibly thankful to the HFPA for this nomination. Working with Mr. Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, John Lee Hancock, Mark Johnson and the team at Warner Bros was truly a career highlight. This nomination was a total surprise and such a wonderful way to start the day. Congratulations to all the other nominees. I am honored to be included with such a wonderful group of artists."

The Mauritanian

Tahar Rahim (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama)

"I am filled with emotion today. Mohamedou Ould Slahi is a man that is rooted in faith and believes in forgiveness. He was in jail for 14 years without charge or trial. It's been the great honor of my career to tell Mohamedou's story.

I'm thrilled to share this day of excitement with our director Kevin Macdonald and the iconic Jodie Foster who I grew up watching and was inspired by as a young actor. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this incredible honor, for supporting me and The Mauritanian. I'm so humbled to be recognized alongside such talented actors."

From an additional interview with EW:

"If [my nomination] can help to open up the range of offers to actors from different backgrounds, it will be great. I think that is so important."

Jodie Foster (Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture)

"This is such amazing and unexpected news! I'm so very grateful to be a part of this film. Mohamedou's extraordinary life has been one of kindness, forgiveness and grace against all odds. Today it is my honor to share this moment with him, Kevin Macdonald and a cast of hugely talented actors who I had the joy to work with. I send a huge congratulations to Tahar for his beautiful portrayal that the HFPA recognized this morning."

The United States vs. Billie Holiday

Andra Day (Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama)

"Gratitude. God is great. No other words can describe how I feel. Grateful to Lee, SLP, Tasha, Thom, my co-stars, the entire cast and production, to Hulu, and the whole team that believes and is working tirelessly for this. Thank you to the voters, outlets and fans that support us and Billie. Y'all are a big blessing."

Raphael Saadiq (Best Original Song – Motion Picture)

"I'm honored that the HFPA has recognized our song 'Tigress & Tweed' with a Golden Globe nomination, as well as Andra Day's brilliant portrayal of Billie Holiday. Her musical legacy remains vital and powerful, and co-writing the song with Andra gave me the opportunity to pay homage to Holiday's enduring artistry. I am truly blessed to work with Day, director Lee Daniels and the team that brought this chapter of Billie's story to the screen."

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy)

Sacha Baron Cohen (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy)

"I'm overwhelmed and humbled that the Hollywood Foreign Press has recognized both THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7 and BORAT SUBSEQUENT MOVIEFILM. These nominations are a tribute to the talented creative teams that led and supported both films from inception to this moment.

I especially want to congratulate the visionary of CHICAGO 7, Aaron Sorkin, and BORAT's Tutar, the incredible Maria Bakalova. These two films are different, but they share a common theme—sometimes we have to protest injustice with our own farce.

Thank you to the HFPA for this ridiculous amount of nominations. I'm so honoured—and in the event that we don't win, I promise to hire Rudy Giuliani to contest the results."

Maria Bakalova (Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy)

"Боже мой! Шокирана съм! Bozhe moĭ !!! Shokirana sŭm!

Thank you HFPA for this honour! To be nominated for playing the wonder woman that is Tutar will forever remain a highlight not only of my career but life. I am so grateful to Sacha who has so deservingly been recognised today as well as the film. I am the happiest person in the whole flat world and I hope that this recognition brings more attention to some of my incredibly talented acting and filmmaking colleagues in Bulgaria and Eastern Europe."

Hamilton (Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy)

Lin-Manuel Miranda (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy)

Music (Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy)

Sia (Writer/Director)

Palm Springs (Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy)

Becky Sloviter (Producer)

"On behalf of the entire creative team who worked tirelessly to bring Palm Springs to life, we're pinching ourselves and are endlessly grateful to the HFPA for recognizing our little engine that could. It's a huge honor to be included among such an incredible group of artists and we couldn't be prouder to have made something that provided some levity and joy during a year when we all found ourselves in our own personal time loops. Extra special thanks to Hulu, NEON, our director Max Barbakow and screenwriter Andy Siara, and most especially to Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti - there is no Palm Springs without the magic they brought to it."

French Exit

Michelle Pfeiffer (Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy)

"I am honored and grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this recognition. The character of Frances Price began in the imagination of Patrick DeWitt, first appearing in his wonderfully funny and witty novel, and then his brilliant screenplay. Thank you to our incredible cast and crew, who were a dream to work with and I'm marveled by all of you. And most of all, thank you to our director Azazel Jacobs, who masterfully captured the tone and spirit of Frances' story."

On the Rocks

Sofia Coppola (Director)

"I'm so delighted that the Hollywood Foreign Press have recognized Bill Murray's performance in On the Rocks. Thank you so much.

I think everyone wants to be with Bill in New York sipping martinis. I know I do."

Onward (Best Motion Picture – Animated)

Dan Scanlon (Director) and Kori Rae (Producer)

"A heartfelt thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press for honoring our film this morning. While the genesis of this film is deeply personal we know that many share in the dream of spending one more day with a lost loved one no longer here. But that is only half of our story. What we hoped would imprint on our audience was the importance of this moment and making sure to tell those we hold dear just how much they mean to us. To our extremely talented crew and cast members we share this nomination and our profound gratitude with all of you."

Over the Moon (Best Motion Picture – Animated)

Glen Keane (Director), Peilin Chou and Gennie Rim (Producers)

"What a tremendous honor for Over the Moon to be recognized today with a Golden Globe nomination. We truly hope the message of our film touches those who need inspiration to open themselves up to love--especially in the darkest of times. From Audrey Wells' beautiful script to our mighty songwriting team, unforgettable acting performances from our cast, to the artistry and heart our crew poured into this film everyday...we literally lived each moment of Fei Fei's journey as if it were our own. On behalf of the entire Over the Moon family, a huge thank you to the HFPA for this recognition!"

Soul (Best Motion Picture – Animated)

Pete Docter and Kemp Powers (Directors), Dana Murray (Producer)

"Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for their recognition of our film this morning. Our cast and crew is an exceptionally talented group of artists that poured their hearts into this film and we share this nomination with all of them. To see audiences of all ages, all over the world, embrace this film has been a true delight. This past year has been full of challenges but what we hoped people would experience through Joe Gardner's journey is that there can be so much awe and purpose in simply being present for the everyday parts of this complicated and beautiful life."

Jon Batiste (Best Original Score)

"I am profoundly grateful to God to be able to share my gift as part of this visionary collaboration. To be recognized by the Golden Globes is truly a tremendous honor! For us to bring something so positive, thought provoking and culturally relevant into the world during these challenging times and to receive this nomination is a dream come true. This recognition of our work also uplifts the ancestral voices that gave the world jazz music. For jazz's sacred lineage to be innovatively and authentically represented to a new generation is a remarkable feat. I am so very grateful to our team for all that I have learned from you: Pete, Trent, Atticus, Kemp, Dana et al. I send my love to all the supporters of the film and of the soundtrack around the world. To be soulful is to be selfless with style. I aim to be that way everyday of my life. Thank you for all the inspiration."

Wolfwalkers (Best Motion Picture – Animated)

Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart (Directors)

"We would like to thank the HFPA for nominating Wolfwalkers for a Golden Globe award - we are delighted that this Irish story is so well received by audience, fans and critics from all over the world and the teams behind Wolfwalkers from Ireland, Luxembourg and France are honoured to be nominated alongside the best animated features of the last year. While we would love to be in Hollywood to celebrate the Golden Globe award ceremony, we will likely be in a socially distant safe celebration here in Kilkenny - as Bill Goodfellowe would say 'It's for our own good.'"

Another Round (Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language)

Thomas Vinterburg (Director)

"Thank you, Hollywood Foreign Press. It's an honor that a film about embracing life should be embraced by you in this trying year.

I am grateful to my amazing collaborators both behind and in front of the camera, especially the great Mads Mikkelsen, who with the other actors, did his very best to make me laugh, and succeeded."

Mads Mikkelsen (Actor)

"That Druk has made it through the eye of the needle at the Golden Globe Awards, is an enormous honor and more than we could dream of. Thomas has made his most beautiful film to date at the most difficult time of his life, and this nomination brings joy in hearts and especially Thomas's. We are so very grateful."

La Llorona (Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language)

Jayro Bustamante (Director)

"We are so excited to represent Latin America at the Golden Globes. It is a dream for all of us to get here. We want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for looking back at a cinema that has long been silenced. It is a huge honor."

Two of Us (Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language)

Filippo Meneghetti (Director)

"It's such wonderful news. I'm really honored, and I would like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association on behalf of the cast and the entire crew. I'm glad that the story of Nina and Madeleine is touching the hearts of so many people. I've never thought that the journey of this film, my first feature, could go this far. It's a huge surprise and a great gift."

The 78th Annual Golden Globes Awards will air live on NBC coast to coast on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
