TV Article Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion unveil 'Con Man: The Game' in exclusive animated trailer By Clark Collis Clark Collis Senior Writer EW's editorial guidelines Published on August 25, 2016 03:25PM EDT Photo: Frima Studios Have you ever dreamed of organizing a fan convention? Well, now you will be able test out your con capabilities before putting down a hefty deposit on that aircraft hangar-sized structure out by the airport. Starting today, fans of the web series Con Man — which stars Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion as stars of a canceled science-fiction show called Spectrum — can download Con Man: The Game from iTunes and Google Play for free. Developed by digital entertainment studio Frima and Con Man executive producer P.J. Haarsma, the mobile game allows players to build and host “the greatest comic book convention in the history of the world” with help from Fillion, Tudyk, Felicia Day, Nolan North, and Joss Whedon, among others. Playing as the omnipotent and ambitious convention planner, participants will need to grow their con and increase their hype meter by setting up new booths and inviting celebrities. They will have to balance their growth with keeping con-goers happy by squashing cockroaches, catching the occasional octogenarian streaker, and fending off alien invasions. The Con Man webseries was funded to the tune of $3.1 million via an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. The show’s first season is currently available, appropriately, on Comic-Con HQ, and season 2 arrives this November. “I’m addicted. I should be clear, to Con Man: The Game,” Tudyk said, in a statement. “We’ve been working on this since the crowdfunding campaign. I’m so glad we can finally share it with everyone.” “I think I should get a special code that gets Nathan Fillion to my convention for free, anytime I want,” said Fillion. “We created a funny and challenging game that fits well with the show. I’m very proud of it,” said Haarsma. You can exclusively see the trailer for Con Man: The Game, above. Close
