On Friday, the Veep arrived on SVU‘s New York set to film his guest appearance in an upcoming episode, and series star Ice-T — who is apparently on a first name basis with Biden — shared a photo of him standing at podium with Mariska Hargitay, who plays Lieutenant Olivia Benson, by his side. “Joe is in the Building…. SVU,” Ice-T tweeted. Leading up to the photo, Ice-T tweeted about how Secret Service agents locked down the set because of Biden’s impending arrival. “The Vice President is here with about 40 of his crew…They don’t play,” he said. “Imagine every day…Rollin with a SWAT team…That’s serious.” Biden is playing himself in a scene where he commends Benson and the rest of the SVU for addressing the national rape kit backlog, specifically in the city of Detroit. This isn’t the first time Hargitay and Biden have teamed up. Most recently, the two of them addressed the national backlog of untested rape kits and rape culture at the United State of Women Summit at the White House. And in October 2014, they worked together on the No More campaign, which aimed to stop domestic violence and provide victims with the resources that could help and filmed a series of PSAs together. Law & Order: SVU, which is entering its 18th season, will return Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. ET. Close
