EW's editorial guidelines Published on March 7, 2016 10:22PM EST The previously-announced 2016 SXSW Film Festival lineup grew larger by two men and one adorable kitty with the announcement Monday that Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele’s comedy Keanu will screen at this year’s event as a special work-in-progress preview. Keanu, the trailer for which you can see above, was written by Peele and Alex Rubens. It tells the story of a pair of friends who pose as drug dealers in the hopes of retrieving a stolen cat, with a supporting cast that includes Nia Long, Will Forte, Luis Guzman, and Method Man. SXSW has been a launching pad for contemporary comedy hits over the last year, most notably giving Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck a head start with strong critical reviews as it, too, received an early preview screening at the Austin-based festival in 2015 ahead of grossing $110 million at the domestic box office. Keanu, which will screen at Austin’s Paramount Theatre at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 13, as part of the SXSW Film Festival, opens in theaters on April 29. Close
