“Six Seasons and a Movie” was more than a mere catchphrase for fans of NBC sitcom Community. It became a mantra fans repeated often to give themselves hope that the comedy — which was constantly on the verge of cancelation — would somehow find a way to survive.

Thanks to a last season assist from Yahoo Screen, Community miraculously fulfilled the first part of the prophecy. But what about the second? We asked certified human being Gillian Jacobs about the possibility of an actual Community movie when she stopped by EW Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) to chat with Jessica Shaw and myself about her new Netflix series Love (which debuts Feb. 19)

“I don’t want to speak for everyone but I would be thrilled to do the movie whenever it gets written,” says Jacobs.

So, wait… is it being written? “I don’t know,” says Jacobs. “You have to get [creator] Dan Harmon on this show and really quiz him — hold his feet to the fire and find out. I haven’t heard anything. I just know whenever we all see each other as the cast, we all reiterate that we would love to do the movie.” (Presumably, when she says “cast” that includes Crystal the Monkey, so memorable in her role as Annie’s Boobs.)

We also asked Jacobs if Community should be held responsible for the death of Yahoo Screen, which closed its virtual doors at the start of the year. “I feel unfairly blamed for the demise of Yahoo Screen,” says Jacobs. “There were other programs, but of course all the headlines were ‘Community destroys Yahoo Screen.’ I don’t think we were their entire budget. And I also feel like we did not misrepresent ourselves as a more popular show when they bought us. So I hope that they knew what they were getting into — a small but loyal audience who are very fervent. And while we were there, they were very lovely and supportive. But perhaps we somehow brought them to their knees. I didn’t realize that we were that much of a disaster. But I’m really glad that we got to make that sixth season. Sorry, Yahoo.”
