TV Article Hail, Caesar!: The Coen brothers' film to open Berlinale 2016 By Dana Rose Falcone Published on December 4, 2015 12:00PM EST Joel and Ethan Coen will take the opening spot at Berlinale next year: The brothers’ new film, Hail Caesar! will kick off the Berlin International Film Festival, following in the footsteps of the directors’ 2011 feature True Grit . Set in 1950s Hollywood, Hail, Caesar! stars George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, and Jonah Hill. Brolin plays a studio fixer who learns the star of his latest movie, Hail Caesar, a Tale of Christ’s Life, has vanished from the set. (Clooney plays the star.) WANT MORE EW? Per the movie’s first trailer, it seems Clooney’s character Baird Whitlock has been captured by a mysterious group called The Future. The real Hail, Caesar! began shooting in Los Angeles in November 2014, with plans for a Feb, 5, 2016 theatrical release date in the U.S. The 66th Berlin International Film Festival kicks off Feb. 11.
