TV Article Midnight Special's spooky first trailer reveals the secret in an 8-year-old boy's eyes By Joe McGovern Published on November 19, 2015 08:11PM EST “Y’all have no clue what you’re dealing with, do ya?” So growls Sam Shepard’s character in the dark, evocative — yet still scintillatingly mysterious — first trailer for Jeff Nichols’ Midnight Special. The blue goggles around the neck of Alton (Jaeden Lieberher), revealed in EW’s First Look, strongly implied that the kid’s supernatural powers had something to do with his eyes. Now, thanks to this 1 minute and 45 second teaser, we know for sure: In additon to Shepard and Lieberher (St. Vincent), the movie also stars Michael Shannon (who’s appeared in all three of Nichols’ films, including Take Shelter) and Kirsten Dunst as the boy’s parents, Joel Edgerton, and Adam Driver, who looks like a gentle government academic, attempting to both interrogate and protect the boy.
