Disney has given the green light to a sequel to this summer’s Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants, which follows the young offspring of famous vault villains like Maleficent, Jafar, and Cruella de Vil as they enter a boarding school attended by the “good” kids — those teens descended from Belle, Sleeping Beauty, et al. Descendants 2 (a working title) will be once again be penned by Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon, who will executive produce. Descendants premiered in July on Disney Channel and scored 12.2 million viewers, becoming the most-watched cable TV movie in three years among adults 18–49 and hitting over 32 million viewers worldwide in subsequent broadcasts.
