Marlene King. King will exec-produce an adaptation of the Rebecca Serle YA romantic novel Famous in Love starring Bella Thorne, the network announced on Tuesday. Famous In Love, which the network put into development earlier this year, features Thorne (Shake It Up, Scream) as a college student named Paige who “gets her big break after auditioning for the starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster” and must figure out a way to “navigate her new star-studded life and undeniable chemistry with her two co-leads while uncovering the truth about what happened to a famous missing popstar.” King is writing the drama pilot with Serle, who will serve as a co-executive producer. Among the executive producers is Chuck and Buck director Miguel Arteta, who will helm the pilot. “We could not be more excited to extend our relationship with hitmaker I. Marlene King,” said Karey Burke, ABC Family’s Executive VP of Programming and Development in a statement. “With Famous In Love, Marlene takes us behind the scenes of young Hollywood to tell a sexy, soapy tale about what it’s like to make a movie — and fall in love — in L.A. We are also thrilled to welcome the talented Bella Thorne to our network and cannot wait to get started on our next can’t-miss show.” A few weeks ago, ABC Family — which will be rebranded as Freeform in January— greenlit a Nicki Minaj-produced comedy. The sequel to Famous In Love, titled Truly Madly Famously, was released on Tuesday. Close
