TV Article Starz acquires rights to Jason Bateman's 'The Family Fang' By Ariana Bacle Published on October 8, 2015 12:00PM EDT Starz acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Jason Bateman’s The Family Fang, an adaptation of Kevin Wilson’s 2011 novel of the same name, the company announced Thursday. Bateman — who made his directing debut with 2013’s Bad Words — directed the comedy-drama, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September. He and Nicole Kidman star as two siblings who return to their childhood home only to find their artist parents (played by Christopher Walken and Maryann Plunkett) missing. “Jason Bateman continues to impress as a director,” vice president of acquisitions for Starz Brett Marottoli said in a statement. “The Family Fang is as moving as it is funny and features a stellar cast at the top of their game. We can’t wait to bring such an impassioned film to audiences.” The Family Fang is expected to fit be released in theaters in 2016 followed by an on-demand release and exclusive television premiere on Starz.
