The royal family also used its official Twitter account to thank both the hospital staff and admirers from around the world. EARLIER: Royal baby No. 2 has arrived! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, welcomed a baby girl on Saturday at 8:34 a.m. in England. The newborn — who weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces — entered the world in the private Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, West London. She joins brother George, who will turn 2 in July, in the royal family. George is third in line to the British throne, with the new girl sitting at fourth. Unfortunately for Prince Harry, the new baby’s arrival bumps him down to the No. 5 spot. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who married on April 29, 2011, announced they were expecting their second baby back in September 2014. As with what happened when George was on the way, the royal couple did not disclose the sex of their second child or any potential baby names. Kate’s due date also remained unknown—the princess only revealed that the royal birth was predicted to take place in late April. Kate and William (who was present for the birth) are expected to spend time at their Kensington Palace apartment after leaving the hospital with the baby, and will then likely head to their country retreat on the royal Sandringham estate for family bonding with their two children. The Palace said the couple will reveal the baby’s name “in due course.” Close
