TV Article Exclusive look at 'Bones' 200th episode, set in 1950s Hollywood By C. Molly Smith C. Molly Smith C. Molly Smith is the former assistant editorial manager at Entertainment Weekly. She left EW in 2019. EW's editorial guidelines Published on December 11, 2014 10:23PM EST Tonight, Bones can officially count itself among the select list of scripted dramas to reach its 200th episode. Being a milestone, “The 200th in the 10th” brings something out of the ordinary for the series: The episode stars its regular cast in their respective roles, but it’s set in 1950s Hollywood, employing an Alfred Hitchcock-esque style, and acting as a standalone for the series. Directed by star David Boreanaz, the story tracks Brennan (Emily Deschanel), an LAPD officer combating sexism in the workplace, and Booth (Boreanaz), a jewel thief framed for the murder of a rich socialite. The pair work together to find the real murderer, clear Booth’s name, and prove Brennan’s abilities as a detective. Expect T.J. Thyne, Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and John Boyd, among guest stars, to be in the episode as well. In advance of tonight’s airing, we have an exclusive clip (above) and photo (below), giving you an idea of what’s to come. The clip shows Brennan and Booth agreeing to track down the real murderer together, sealing the deal with a drink (this is the ’50s after all). “I’m really proud of the episode and how it came out. It took a while to get it done, but we did it. Now, here we are,” Boreanaz said at the show’s 200th episode party on Monday, adding, “It’s a blast to see these characters play in a different light.” And Deschanel had exciting news: There’s a baby on the way for Brennan and Booth! Deschanel’s first pregnancy was written into the series; on the show, Brennan and Booth had a daughter, Christine. Now pregnant with her second child, EW asked if fans can expect a similar treatment. “Yes, I think it will be [written in],” Deschanel responded. “I’m not a tiny pregnant person. I’m not going to be able to hide it.” Showrunner Stephen Nathan officially announced the news on Wednesday to TV Line. As for the next milestone—250, 300, 350?!—there’s no news, yet. We’ll just have to wait and see. Bones airs tonight on Fox at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Close
